okay, i think someone mentioned this long ago (himitsu, i think) that NHK will be holding their singing competition here in singapore on 2nd nov.. anyone who has NHK world premium channel can watch it 11.15 am singapore time.. singaporeans singing japanese songs.. wonder if i would cringe at the accents.. but most likely it would be songs that are popular in singapore.. drama theme songs? smap songs..? oh no and ayumi songs.. Sweat

but the important is the guests coming.. from what i gathered on cabletv huide, it said the guests will be enka singers fuji ayako and hikawa kiyoshi!!!!! i love hikawa kiyoshi's songs..

fuji ayako

How about a duet with Kiyoshi Hikawa himself? Mr Green
What are the rewards for winning the contest? A week trip to Japan, perhaps?

I love Hikawa Kiyoshi's songs as well!!! He came to Hawaii about a month ago, as a special guest during our Aloha Week 2003 Festival. On Saturday's parade through Waikiki, he stood on a float and sang songs. Then on Sunday, he held an excellent concert at one of the Waikiki hotels. I paid $75.00 to see him, and it was well worth it.

If any of you have never been to a Japanese music concert, you're totally missing out. The audience brings with them props, including signs, light sticks, and costumes. And, the "groopies" that follow Kiyoshi around have their hand jestures down to a science... The entire audience is totally in sync!!!!

I couldn't understand a single word people were saying, but the overall atmosphere was so energetic, so it didn't really matter. And I have to add that there were some really cute girls there, too (Sakai Noriko, a frequent visitor to Hawaii, didn't show!!!! Sad )
