An update on the KTSF / Fuji-TV web site we were talking about.

Since I hadn't gotten a reply from the fuji-TV email, I contacted the guys who say they maintain the site (the kdenshi group). I mentioned that Song of the Sugar Cane field is long over, as is My Little Chef, and I wondered if they were planning to update any time in the future.

The response I got was interesting:

Thank you for contacting us.
We only update the FujiTV site when we receive new contents from them.
The truth is, they have not given us anything. We keep asking them for
updates, but I guess they're either busy, or assume that no one is looking at their site.
You should contact FujiTV at [email protected] and tell them you
actually read the site. I'm sure they will appreciate being contacted from an actual viewer.
Should have more impact and influence, too.

Regards,
Katz Matsui
K Denshi

So, I guess I'll go back to harassing them.

Elt,

I'm puzzled about that too.

My Little Chef was on TBS in the Summer of '02

Welcome to the High Plains was on TBS in the Summer of '03

You know they can't do anything as close as the Summer of '04... so which of the TBS series is next? (Probably the one about the old folks home. Seems to be their speed lately.)

And Sakura has to end soon. Doesn't it?

Where are you at? I'll tell you if you're close.

BTW...has there been a status update about Churasan 2 in NCal? I thought I had read before it was coming to NCal. I've only been able to find one person who has Churasan 2, but I haven't yet been able to convince him to trade with me or post it (broadcast in Hawaii on KIKU). Churasan 3 is about to air in Japan (9/13) and they are re-running Churasan 2 the two nights before (3 episodes each night). I have asked a friend in Japan to tape it for me and she said she'd try. If all goes well, I'll post them (2 and 3) on the newsgroups...but (IF she comes through) they won't be subtitled unfortunately.

It's only 5 episodes long. Here's the website. If you can't read Japanese you can get something out of it by going to Alta Vista's babbelfish website and getting a translation (not very good, but ok).

Geezer,

I don't believe they actively update their website.

If you check they still have My Little Chef airing and Song of the Sugar Cane Fields contest still going on. I had sent them an email using the address listed about three months ago with a question and never did receive a response. So I don't think they are reading them, but it is worth trying. Let us know if anyone receives a response from emails and I will try again.

I really enjoy watching Fuji TV on Saturday night.

And as somebody just said "It's all we've got." So I will continue to support them.

does that mean that you have the first series (Churasan 1)? If so...is there anyway we could work a trade of some sort...?

If someone has it and can work out a trade with you it would be even better because you could add it to your Studio Oto distro service for those who want it.

With "Welcome to the High Plains" ending its run, KTSF has announced that they will be showing:

"Tomb of the Wild Chrysanthemum" as its Fuji-TV Fall Special

At 8pm Saturday, October 2nd and concluding 8pm October 9th.

The good news is... I think this means Sakura is finally ending.

The not so good news is... my reaction to the "coming attractions" was... Huh?

From the scenes they showed, this is a fairly old costume drama.

But there's no mention of this movie (under this title anyway) in the Movie data base.

So... Has anyone heard of it? Does anyone think this is a must see, or a must avoid movie?

Final note: Man was I ticked off when KTSF decided to simply cancel Japanese programing last Sunday night for the Jewish Telethon.

Did I miss an announcement about that? Or were the rest of you surprised as well?

WTF? A Jewish telethon on KTSF?

KTSF is the Asian station.

PC

KTSF is a whoever has the money station on the weekends.

KDenshi buys Saturday nights, and what is it... TTV buys Sunday nights.

SO I guess the telethon folks ponyed up more money.

I was just annoyed that they simply cancelled the Sunday night programming without warning.

I just sent KTSF an email to complain about it.

Not that I'm furious. They do this kind of stuff a lot. But I dislike the way they dismiss the audience for Japanese programming.

Hmm never heard of "Tomb of the Wild Chrysanthemum" but I'll capture it anyways. I'll try to google what I can later, I hope it has a nice cast at least. I guess it's a 2 week break and then another drama. They must still be deciding what to air or something hehe

Or they're stalling, waiting to see what Japan sends them.

I googled the movie and best guess says its:

Nogiku no haka (1981)

But that's a guess.

The description seems right, and there's a brief write up of it on the data base.

Elton,

I got the DVDs that I ordered from you today. I haven't had time to check them out, but I will. Thanks.

BTW...do you capture most/all stuff that broadcasts in No. Cal? Can I ask what your system of capturing is? I have two dramas (working on 3 now) that are saved on my Tivo (So. Cal broadcasts). The first is Kintaro 4 which I've been starting to digitize. I think I've finally gotten most of the wrinkles worked out to creating a "decent" capture...but it would be nice to know how others are going about their captures (especially those much more experienced than myself), what kind of equipment, etc...

My current capture setup is this:

-output from Directv Tivo to mini DV camcorder. Input DV to computer via firewire and edit out commercials. Convert DV output to Divx.
