Eri Fukatsu takes Best Actress in Montreal
Tue, September 7, 2010 (2:20am EDT)
On Monday in Montreal, actress Eri Fukatsu was awarded Best Actress at the 34th Montreal World Film Festival. She received the prize for her role in Sang-il Lee's "Akunin," which stars her and actor Satoshi Tsumabuki.
Fukatsu is the first Japanese to win Best Actress at the festival since Yuko Tanaka took it in 1983 for her performance in "Amagigoe." However, Japanese have won other awards at the festival in recent years, including Yojiro Takita's "Okuribito" in 2008 (Grand prix des Americas) and Kichitaro Negishi's "Viyon no Tsumabuki" in 2009 (Best Director).

After having seen her in the movies "The Magic Hour", "The Professor and his Beloved Equation", "Space Travelers" and "Akunin" and in the dorama "Slow Dance", "Saikou no Kataomoi" and "Koi no Chikara" (and being hopeful that they'll finish subbing "Kabachitare!" ), she's become my #1 fave actress...beautiful and brilliant, yay Fukacchan!!!

Some other Fukatsu Eri works you might want to check out:
Odoru Daisousasen--she has a prominent role in both the TV series and the subsequent movies.
Suekko Chounan Ane San Nin--this is one of the better romantic comedies I think she's appeared in.
Honoka'a Boy--in this movie set in Hawaii, she makes two very brief cameo appearances. In one, she plays a tourist and is very charming, very Eri-like. In the other, she was so unrecognizable that I didn't know it was her.

I had already got "Suekko Chounan..." and Honokaa Boy (they're in my quite huge stack of "things to watch next" - among many other things, also her other dorama "Change", "Narita Rikon" and "Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi" ) but really ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU for suggesting "Odoru Daisousasen"!
The first time I googled it I didn't find it (either it wasn't yet subbed back then or else I didn't search it right ), but now I re-googled it and found all (dorama + 3 movies)...once again THANKS A LOT!

TIA!
p.s.
Oh, and other Fukacchan's fans may want to know that on unsolvedcases.livejournal.com they're subbing Fukatsu Eri no BURAKOME (raws on raredoramas.info)
