Hmm, nothing's changed here: slow/incomplete loading, especially with Firefox.

Now I remember the other reason for taking a sabbatical. Grumble

Might have something to do with Firefox... Though I don't see this problem with other phpBB sites...

Is that in the Tools menu or is it some obscure command line switch?

I'm with firefox and site loading speed is normal, maybe just a little bit sluggish, but that's because I'm behind router and using torrents.

@bmwracer: Type in adress bar "about:config", key is network.http.pipelining & network.http.pipelining.maxrequests.

it was a command line change i think...

Code:

This is how to activate them
Open Firefox and on the address bar write about:config and hit enter
find the string
network.http.pipelining
double click and change the value to true
find the string
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
double click and change the value to 34
find the string
browser.turbo.enabled
double click and change the value to true
now close and restart and see the new amazingly new speed of firefox...

it helped "a little" when i did it back on my old computer.

sh*t....you would have had to delete a lot more than that in your absence....whoever that is almost certainly a repeat offender....and i'll sure as hell keep replying when my initial statement was quite innocuous

Those mods did help loading quite a bit... Though some threads that are image-intensive bog down and eventually stop loading... Several reloads are required to get the bugger completely loaded.

Every page regardless of images load in under a second for me, maybe you should format your pc and get a better connection.

There are alot of factors affecting everyone's connection to the site. There hasn't been much problems regarding the server CPU/mem usage, so it narrows down to the connection between your ISP and the server.

Whatever the case, lets monitor it and see if its a one-time issue or a persistent one.

p/s: I'm using various ISPs from different places with Firefox and all seems to load fine (haven't tried the super image intensive pages, but if those are slow, its because the external server hosting the images are slow and its beyond our control)

It loads fine for me, and actually seems quite fast to me. I use Firefox and didn't change any of the settings.

It usually takes me less than 2 seconds to load a page with Fasterfox with Optimized settings. http://fasterfox.mozdev.org/

I use a filtering proxy (privoxy) to remove all the signature pics on this site. This allows the table-based page layout to render faster, and the pages appear to load more rapidly. I find sig pics annoyingly redundant anyway, so for me, it's an aesthetic improvement as well Smile

Well, there are pluses and minuses. Pretty girls are nice, but I don't want to see umpteen more pics of YamaP or KameHorseface ... bleh

Too many sig pics take up like half my screen anyway. I need a bigger monitor.
