Hate to say this, but Mexican lengua (tongue) is often more tender than gyutan.

I enjoy eating the Mexican lengua tacos at King Taco here in L.A. with some Salsa Verde...now that's good, cheap eats.

Breakfast on the morning of April 21, 2011, at one of London's posh department stores, Harvey Nichols.

I had the traditional full English Breakfast - fried egg, bacon, mushrooms, Cumberland sausages, blood sausage, English baked beans, grilled tomato, and toast.

BEFORE

ALMOST AFTER Bleah

Celebrating the awesome weather on April 21, 2011, I headed out for London's Borough Market - the city's premier farmer's market. I took a trip down memory lane and opted to have the same Chorizo sandwich I had there back in 2008!

BBQ Chorizo sausage, Spanish Piquillo peppers, Arugula, and bread dressed with olive oil. Simply sublime!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I felt the same way, dude. No joke, though...when I stepped on the scale I actually weighed half a pound LESS than I did prior to my departure!

I must confess that is in part due to the fact that while in San Sebastian, Spain, I caught a case of food poisoning that was pretty harsh for a couple of days...but thanks to my fortuitous discovery of a health food store, I was able to avail myself of a couple of homeopathic remedies to food poisoning I was well aware of prior to my departure on vacation, namely Activated Charcoal & Apple Cider Vinegar.

But I don't think that explains it all...the gluttonous foodie traveling in Europe can be consoled by the fact that one must WALK A LOT every dayem day! I must have walked 3 to 5 miles a day which helped offset the insane grubbin', at least in part. Smile

Eeek, getting sick on a trip is the absolute pits, though it appears that you bounced back pretty quickly... Most people would be incapacitated for a week, if not more. Sweat

Yeah, well now that I'm back in L.A....nobody walks anywhere, including me...so I'm right back at the gym. I remember when I went to Osaka back in 2009 I came back with the party mentality and keep boozin' for months without working out and I put the pounds on quick!

Trying to prevent a repeat of that one!

Plate of charcuterie & cheese from the first restaurant we dined at in Madrid...Museo del Jamon. Good but not great...greatness was to come later on. Smile

One of Madrid's most famous churro shops, established in 1894. You dunk the churros in the thick hot chocolate. I was a tourist, I had to try it Bleah
