Finally, Japanese doramas will be shown on Philippine television via GMA-7 . Most of the local tv stations here have been airing Korean and Taiwan dramas and this trend is going on for almost 3 years. This is going to be the first time that Japanese doramas will be aired here in the Philippines from a local tv station and GMA network is the first to do that . The first in line is Gokusen. The airing date is still to be set but it most likely that it will be shown next month. I'm sure J-doramas will be a big hit here _________________

Interested. All I can say is "Finally." I guess they figured out that there's more dramas out there other than the Mexican ones (Marimar??). My guess is that it will be dubbed in Tagalog. I wonder if anyone will be recording it when it airs.

i heard Friends (w/ kyoko and wonbin) started airing there and i even heard the tagalog dubbing .. they sucked.
but they did a good job doing korean dramas, like full house and other stuff, meteor garden 1 & 2 in tagalog dubbing was suprisingly good too. _________________

Yeah, the dubbing really sucked When it is Wonbin and other Koreans who speak they dub it in tagalog but when it is Kyoko Fukada and other Japanese actors turn to speak, they dub it in english with Japanese accent. The result wasn't good not only because of the dubbing but also because they aired it everyday. As a result, the series ended in just 2 weeks
By the way, Gokusen will start airing on October 29. It will be shown every weekends which is a good decision from the GMA executives They should know that j-doramas aren't that long compared to Mexican and Korean dramas. If they want the j-doramas to be shown a little bit longer, they should only air it once or twice a week. _________________

I will record j-doramas using VHS (we can say it could be a C-quality). And if anyone is interested to watch it then I will try to put it in my computer and upload it using torrent (that is if anyone is interested to watch j-doramas in a tagalog dubbed version ) _________________

I thought Friends had less episodes than your usual Japanese soap, with only 6 or 7 eps, which might be the explanation why it just lasted 2 weeks.
Hmm, only weekends. I think they are testing the waters for Japanese dorama. I already thought they would be airing Gokusen on weekdays, assuming stupidly that GMA had bought the rights for season 2 also. That would amount to around 24 eps, including the 2 specials, round about the same no. of eps for a korean soap like Full House (which I think was 26. ) Anyway, I'm still thankful that GMA has chosen again to lead the entrance of hopefully, the Jdorama wave in the Philippines.
Hope that they would show more ! _________________

Yeah, let's hope that won't happen . I think they can (or should I say they MUST) stick to the original theme songs and names of the characters. It worked out well in meteor garden. _________________

october 29? really? what timeslot? I sure hope it gets a primetime slot.. but if it'll be shown on weekends then it might take sweet 18's timeslot >_<
Your guess is right. It will replace Sweet 18. Not good if you are to ask me because many people, especially students like me, will not be able to watch it on saturdays

They will do good on the dubbing but we can't guarantee that they will keep the original names of the characters

Nope, I was referring to Golden Bowl which is set to be shown on QTV-11 after the channel's launching in november. Gokusen is the one that will be shown on GMA-7.
