| It is the Tenpo period near the twilight years of the Tokugawa shogunate. Onobu (Sawaguchi Yasuko) is a member of the poor Katsu clan which has served the Tokugawa shoguns for generations. She slogs to earn money every day but is always with a smile. Onobu’s husband Kokichi (Furuta Arata) was adopted into the family. He is rash by nature and always gets scolded by Onobu’s grandmother Tose (Enami Kyoko) because he cannot say no if something is asked of him. Onobu loves her husband to bits and supports him even as he causes one trouble after another. The intelligent and sensible Rintaro (Suzuki Fuku) coolly observes his parents. With his mother’s benevolence that crosses social classes and his father’s chivalry, he will later save the people of Edo as Katsu Kaishu. |
