| Haraguchi Motoko (Takei Emi) works as a temporary employee at a bank in the day and a hostess at a club in Ginza at night to repay her parents’ debt. However, just as she pays off the debt, talk of a lay-off of temporary employees comes up at the bank. This spurs her to put a plan that she had been secretly developing into motion. Motoko embezzles 180 million yen from the bank and opens her own club called Carnet in Ginza with a black notebook containing an illegal list of that amount of money and the accounts opened under other people’s names as her shield. Without a backer, she survives in the night scene as a young proprietress through sheer ambition, and eventually rises to become the queen of the night. |
