1. a quiet jem [Rating: 10/10]
I watched this drama in one sitting -- only a story of the rarest of rare quality can hold my attention so long.

It was refreshing to see Inamori Izumi in a role in which is isn't comic relief. She does a great job as the lost 30yr.-old daughter. Still, the rest of the cast played their parts perfectly.

I am a fan of Inamori so I turned this one on just to see her, but even if you are not, you are missing out on a good story if you pass this one up. There is a deep sadness you can feel with each episode and all the characters are affected. All of them find it hard to find a reason to smile and we don't know why they should until the end -- the very end. The music, all of it, perfectly matches and enhances the mood of the show.

2. King of all Cringe... [Rating: 9/10]
Youngerman has to be one of the most cringalicious dramas I have ever seen. Almost every scene unfolds with uncomfortable psychological drama. The actors are great. The pacing is brisk. The actresses are normal enough looking to where they don't interfere in the process of losing yourself in the story. A Married with Children for the psychotic. Women are much better and deeper characters than men in drama because they are allowed a wider range of emotion. Allota Fun.

3. Could have chosen a more attractive and convincing [Rating: 2/10]
I only watch this because of Inamori Izumi. Other than that, this drama irks me. There are attractive older women in J-drama world like Kuroki Hitomi (Dark Water, Golden Bowl), and I find it extremely unconvincing that any younger virile man would find Fubuki Jun attractive with her eyebags, sagging chin and neck and "obaasan sweater". This drama is very unrealistic for me and I cringe each time the younger man declares his desire to the older obaasan.

moving my rating from 6 to 8, first off i thought the first eps. were boring, but things are getting really intense somewhere in the middle, where her daughter found out bout her mom.. this is the first darkest 'family' series ive seen.. the ending isnt something i expected.. i dont like homewreckers at all, as much as i dont like how it turned out, i still give it an 8 cuz i wouldnt wanna give a low rating just cuz i didnt like the ending, its a good story actually.. not recommended for hot tempered like me ;P

Good Drama, but I think the format of "Older Woman going for a youger man" is kind of old, I mean really old and repetetive (Ex. Long Vacation, etc.) . What's ironic is Inamori Izumi was one of the star in Long Vacation (she was 24 then), I think she was making fun of Tomoko going for a yonger Kimura, and now that Izumi is old, she accepted the same role that Tomoko did. Still this drama has its own style, so I give it a 7.
3. Comments by JAKQ [Rating: 9/10]
One of the most serious dramas I have seen. This is really what you can call a sad drama. People don't like it, but if you're into the whole serious love and family affairs, then it's perfect. The only reason it gets a "9" from me is because there was no humor at all to it. Great drama.
4. Comments by takezo [Rating: 9/10]
the director of this soap is better than most...
the ebb and flow of the storyline is good and it's quite a dark comedy...if you equate comedy with tragedy, that is...definitely not for the younger audience since there are no "cute" moments to be found in this gem...
5. Comments by Super No. 1 [Rating: 5/10]
If I learned anything from this, it's that you can make really bad choices and ruin your life and still everything might turn out okay. The story wasn't very good and a lot of the characters were creepy. The ending was bizarre. What the heck happened at the end?

Very serious drama about maturity and purpose of living, explored through various relationships: parents, siblings, marriage, lovers, elder with younger... It feels more like a play than a drama. Well done but some how feels a little stale.
7. Comments by jjpsychic2 [Rating: 6/10]
it was okay.. a very different drama..very dark family.. shows how their lives change for each person but i was kinda disappointed with the ending.. i was expecting something more.. i felt it didn't solve much..
8. Comments by AjiKan [Rating: 3/10]
I watched this because i thought it looked a little interesting. But in the end, i wasnt very interested. Somehow it lost my interest towards the end. Plus, the storyline kinda gives me the creeps.

Casting is horrrrrrrrrible. why would anyone put a sexy Takahashi Katsunori with ....ahem, a obasan-looking obasan. the theme and ending didn't go down well with me either.....

Lame... I like Inamori Izumi a lot but I was so not buying the story. Her character got so paranoid and pathetic that I just couldn't sympathize... yikes...
13. Comments by gaijinmark [Rating: 8/10]
The actors were all good. Inamori was very good. But I just couldn't work out Takahashi being attracted to Fubuki, otherwise I might have rated it higher.

A serious love story which they try to make a dark one but fail. I expected a different ending but I guess they were trying to please the audience

another dark drama, the storyline is a bit stupid.. the thought of a guy loving a 50 years old lady make me sick... ^^"

The drama itself is not bad actually.
But I found it too boring and the cast is not intriguing.

Excellent drama! Some people may gross out on a 50+ woman and a 40+ man, but hey it happens!!!!

Starts as a philosophical look at aging through the eyes of a 30-something japanese woman but the plot quickly thickens. Loved it the first time through, but suffers the same downfall as all great thrillers: You can't watch it over again for the first time. The cast and their performance keeps me compelled though, despite my knowledge of the outcome.
2. yufan
watched for the sake of hoshino mari only... but it's kinda bad... 1. they lack good looking ppl in it... 2. it's a ridiculous storyline... totally unreal 3. it's about mid-life crisis, and i'm just 17...
3. AmarnaObsession
OMG! This is the only "soap"-type show I've ever liked....I hate american soap operas. It kinda gets complicated, but it's def worth watching. Kinda dissapointed with the end though.
4. takezo
enjoyed the work of the actors and director..."a woman is a woman no matter her age"...this series may have one of the scariest and creepiest villainess of all time...
5. Chickadee
I just finished it and loved it! I feel bad for Chikako though. The drama has a really nice moral.
6. JAKQ
Though humorless, I still liked it.
