Horikita Maki was so cute in this. It is a little silly but really fun. I found the story line to be a bit inconsistent and unbelievable but it was still enjoyable. Really it is an excuse to see yummy food and a cute actress.

The story revolves around Akane. A young girl who runs a family restaurant after her mother dies her father left her alone and has been missing for 1 year. Akane has amazing ability at teppan style cooking and is constantly challenged by a strange rival while looking for her father she travels Japan facing lots of cooking battles along the way.
It's fun. I would not call it great but I enjoyed it and that is the most important thing right? I hope you watch it and give it a chance too.

The main thing I got out of this drama was the catchy theme single "Sayonara" by Orange Range. Otherwise Akane Teppan Girl is perfectly watchable for the tight interaction between the likeable and campy characters.
Yes, treatment of the regional delicacies was shallow and they could have given a little more depth to the ingredients and "terroir" rather than have Akane drive somewhere far, "fight" and then return to Tokyo.
The final episode was not entirely satisfying and I felt the producers rushed the plot to squeeze it into 9 chapters. However, when it finally finished I wanted to see more of Akane and Shinta-san and their road trips.
