i'm going to japan as well, and i will definitely be going to akhihabara....the LAOX store has the one of the biggest selections of duty free electronics there....

i'd recommend buying the Time Out guide to Tokyo travel guide. it truly has a wealth of information. have fun

well..denden town in Osaka was impressive too, I liked it a bit better then Akihabara in Tokio.
and btw, if you buy a japanese cell phone you won't need a digicam, their cell phones have up to 2megapixel Smile and remember that all the menus in the the phone will be in japanese. and mostly you'll have to buy a cellphone with a provider, didn't see that you could buy only the phone. but well..didn't really check those things so maybe it's possible.

Heck those 200 yen phones are probaby technologically still beyond what we use in the states. I mean geeze, my 2 watt motorola analog transportable phone still works.
In Tokyo, Akihabara would be the place to go. Note that prices wont neccesarily be cheap. You will have selection. Generally speaking the smaller out of the way shops will have the better prices.

Harajuku is good on a Sunday for the unofficial weekly 'parade' - live bands, cosplayers, ELG, etc.. plus you can go shopping for the latest clothes Smile

Like ahochaude suggested Shibuya and Roppongi have lots of clubs and bars, but I definitely prefer Shibuya! Roppongi tends to be full of drunken foreigners and is a bit sleazy Sweat There's a DJ bar in Shibuya called Neo which is worth going to. Very cool place and I even managed to meet a minor celebrity there Smile It also featured in the Cutie Honey Koda Kumi PV.

Also there's a cool if small bar in Ebisu called Space Punch if you fancy a quiet drink in interesting and friendly surroundings.

A good place to look for these places is here:

http://metropolis.japantoday.com/tokyo/recent/bars.asp

I found most of the places I go to there! Smile

LOL, you can say that again! bleh But, once in a while you can find an ok place in Roppongi...if you are w/ friends who know the owner of a decent place that isn't near the "front" hehe

I don't recommend Gas Panic. But a lot of gaijin seem to have fun there Doh! I'm foreign and I didn't like it though, but I'm picky hehe Their policy is: If you aren't dancing or you aren't drinking...ya gotta go. You can't just hang out there or be far between drinks Grumble
