hm. recently i saw a trailer for "NINxNIN (ninja hattori-kun, the movie)" in a Japanese TV show. It was quite.. well, I'd like to watch this movie
Anyone already seen it?
Although it seems a little childish I've read a review @ yahoo.co.jp which tells that it's not so childish as it may appear in the Trailer. Then I also downloaded the official Japanese Trailer and yes, it seemed quite interesting
So, anyone seen it? Heard sth about it?

I asked him nicely for One Missed Call.
And he did make a sub.
Now I can't ask him to do Zebraman
so easily.
Can any of you have avi file (the one you got from BT
or the one posted at abmj) and if your name is called
by dust, can you upload to abmj?
If so, go to abmj, and ask him nicely.

Altho not nessesarily relagated to just JPN movies, if di$ney/miramax have anything to do with jpn movies, they'd prolly butcher them as in "de-asianize" them. check out this site and put your sig.
Stop Disney from butchering Asian Films.
One letter hit the point dead on:
Quote:
Let's pretend for a moment that the U.S. is, in fact, not one of the world's largest distributors and producers of movies. Conversely, it is Hong Kong that rules the world film market instead. One day, a production company, say Golden Harvest, decides to buy a little film called The Godfather. The studio execs understand and recognize the importance and power of this film, and would like to re-release it under their name.
One thing that goes out is the voices. Instead, the powerful, rich, unforgettable narration and dialogue of Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, and James Caan are instead replaced by horribly under-talented voice actors that completely mutilate the original voices with their own feeble interpretations of the actor's original work.
Another thing that goes out is the soundtrack. Instead, it is completely replaced with an Eastern sound, with Mr. Tan Dun supplying drums, and Mr. Yo-Yo Ma accompanying Tan Dun's Asian soundtrack with his cello- played in Asian undertones. The song that is sung by Johnny Fontane at the Corleone wedding is instead replaced by a cheesy, awful Cantopop song sung by Aaron Kwok.
As if that weren't enough, several scenes are cut out. One scene, in which Al Pacino is being instructed by one of his father's underlings in culinary arts, is cut out; the studio execs deem it "unnecessary" and "too Italian." Another scene, which is cut out, is when Woltz discovers his prize horse's head in his bed. The scene is cut before he sees this, and the screen blackens with Woltz screaming bloody murder (done, of course, by the voice actor). This scene is deemed "unnecessary", as well.
Now, this probably will never happen in this world and this reality. Instead, what is happening is the other way around; dozens of beloved Hong Kong classics are being mutilated before the loving fans very eyes.
If they can do this with HK films, they can do this with any kinds of movies. _________________

Unfortunately, there is not only Disney who "butch" the asian . In France Saint Seya was really killed by voicer, but it was my favourite manga on TV. And it still is
For example, they gave a woman voice to some characters like Shun...
The Voicer of Seya discovered what he had to say about 10 minutes before he had to speak (sometime). We are lucky that the voicer is really good.
There are 3 voicers for about 20 characters...
The name in French is not the real name of the manga...
The theme is a big shit but funny...
And i didn't see chaolin soccer, I don't know why but I thought It didn't worth to be watched.

The Japanese movies for the festival is selling like hot cakes! I still haven't bought the advance tickets since I haven't set the dates for the movies yet *goes back to check the screening list*
April Story with Matsu Takako!!!! (q)
I love it
I liked the movie, some may disagree with me. The movie was calm and gentle, so relaxin to watch and Matsu Takako as a dazzling young innocent woman! The flow of the movie was tranquil and slow, very Iwai-ish. I really need to see that type of movie more than brainless action movies instead. Speaking of action movies, it's been quite awhile since I saw one.

Tasogare Seibei is excellent. I think it won something like 13 Japanese Academy Awards, and was nominated for Best Foreign Film in this year's Oscar program...
Headin off to the movie festival to see Casshern Hopefully there are still tickets for today's screening. Azumi seems to be festival most sold screening, all the screenings have been sold out in no time! There is a demand for additional screenings! Well, seen the movie so no bother seeing it again.

agree with bmw, great plot accompanied by great performance by hiroyuki sanada.
definitely worth the 2 hours watching it
as for g@me, i give it a 7 out of 10.
great cast, interesting plot but a lil confusing
My favorite japanese movie is probably "Battle Royale." "Ping pong" is also a very funny movie.
If your interested in some more eccentric films, "the new god" by yutaka tsuchiya, a documentary about the role of the emporer system in modern japan, is one of my favorite japanese movies.
If you want something truly crazy, try "moonlight whispers" or "snake of june." These are both very interesting movies, but be forwarned, they contain strong sexual content.

Drat! They got me again!
I rented "The Shogun's Samuri" and it turns out it's "The Yagyu Conspiracy" with a different title.
It drives me nuts that different companies release their movies (usually Japanese movies) with different titles.
It's not so bad when renting, but when buying...
ALWAYS CHECK THE MOVIE DATA BASE to find out what other names the movie you're interested in has been released under.
Ah, shucks, Geezer. Though, I picked up the recent "Yagyu Conspiracy" version, and I like it much; I hadn't seen it before, is why I sound ignorant 'bout it.
I also picked up Takashi Miike's Black Society Trilogy.
And another film influential to some Japanese directors: "Star Wars" trilogy (I know, I know, and vice-versa). Yay.
