According to CD Japan it's an NHK Drama. They are selling it as a 2 DVD set showing "all 20 episodes" with a running time of 300 minutes.

Has anyone ever heard of this show? Any comments? Reviews?

It ran in Southern California last year. I enjoyed it quite a bit, though I don't remember it all that well and missed a few episodes. Had a nice sense of humor to it. =\

Care to give a little preview of what it's about, if you can remember? Smile

Sure. It's pretty simple. It's about a girl named... Sachiko, I think, that is looking for love and over the course of the show she dates several guys. Note: She isn't actually actively looking for guys so much as she happens to run into them. She lives in an onigiri shop and works developing weird brands of snack foods, so food is a pretty common theme in the show. Her friends from her high school basketball team also hang around her house a lot and they drink and chat about their love lives and such. It's a really light-hearted show though, so they're mostly joking around when they talk. That's about it.

Well, 20 episodes... 300 minutes...

that breaks down to 15 minutes per episode.

KTSF will probably stretch it out to 12 half hour episodes.

Man, I wish they'd announce what they're gonna put on in the 8pm time slot once "Kai" is over. I think "Kai" goes for 3 more weeks.

Elton,

Not a problem. I've been capturing "Kai" so if you decide you need that episode, or want the full series, let me know and I'll shoot you a copy.

Sounds interesting enough. I was hoping for Churasan 2 but this sounds o.k.

Wow, 20 episodes? That's kinda long for JDramas. Or is this going to be like Sakura which only airs for 30 minutes?

And why does KTSF always end up getting the weird dramas that no one's heard about? I mean, we've had Good Luck!! and Itoshii Kimi e, but those weren't subbed... Crazy

You guys got Good Luck un-subbed?

I didn't recognize the name...but by description I saw that show too. I don't remember it being 20 episodes long though, but since it is only 300 minutes maybe they showed multiple episodes each night since it was played in the 1 hour time slot. I liked the show a lot...but it was VERY quirky!!! Be warned. The main character is definitely weird.

How many episodes is Kai? I thought I heard it was 5 but I am not sure. Any word on what will replace it?

Interesting. We got Good Luck subbed here in LA. I thought we all got similar shows (albeit at different times sometimes and/or not at all) but using the same source so if S Cal was subbed so would N Cal. I guess that's not the case after all.

I didn't watch much of Good Luck, but the font they used for the subs was sorta irritating... Arial is much better that Times Roman for subs... Smile

I don't remember how it looked, but if it's like the Kintaro 4 subs I agree. The JTV sub is much better as well because it's the widescreen DVD rip anyways, regardless of subs.

Gregsan

When you talk about JTV, are you talking about a fan site, or JTV, the Cable TV station?

For those wondering why KTSF's Sunday night Japanese package is never subtitled, why not write to Ms. Runiko Koyama and ask?

She's the one who handles the letters from viewers for TTV, which is the company that provides the shows for KTSF's Sunday nights.

Heck, maybe if she gets a big enough response, TTV will consider subbing some of their shows.

She can be reached at:

I don't know if Ms. Koyama can do anyting at all for us, in terms of getting subbed shows on Sunday night... but she's always responded to my emails, she's always been very pleasant, and always helpful.

She's one of the good guys, as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry for the confusion. JTV being the fansubs online. Not an actual station.

When Good Luck was broadcast in LA (KXLA?) it was subbed, but the JTV fansubs are much better than the broadcast shown in LA, because of the video quality (it's widescreen and I think also a DVD rip), and the subs themselves are better.

That's great news indeed. I just sent her a friendly e-mail saying how much we enjoyed the drama's but would love to see subs added. I tried to keep it very friendly and not pushy. It would be so great if Subs appeared on Sundays!
