i never heard of this show before. can you be a bit more specific.

the way you describe it... kind of and kind of doesn't sound like Meteor Garden. in Meteor Garden, San Cai is an outcast at her school and she comes from a poor family. She gets into arguments and fights with Dou Ming Si, who is from a rich family (and his family owns the school she is attending). she gets picked on really bad by this guy... he destroys her motor scooter, destroys her sneakers, gets tough guys to chase after her and they beat her up, they even beat up her friend Qing He too. so sad. then Dou Ming Si falls in love with her and then they start dating. then her new rival is his mother who cannot stand and will never accept Dou Ming Si dating San Cai. this show is so sad and everything is a struggle for the characters to get what they want. but i love this show.

That sounds so sad....is it ongoing? Well, I hope it has a happy ending...it HAS to for that.....anyways, I don't think they're the same show, because this schoolgirl is in her pre-teens, maybe 10 - 12? I think it (originally) aired on the Tzu Chi TV channel.

Meteor Garden may be showing in some countries right now. but it has been on vcd and dvd for quite a while. it is extremely popular because of the lead actor: Jerry Yan (from the popular Taiwanese ex-boyband F4). Yes, Meteor Garden has a happy ending.

Hmmm... also it kind of sounds like that Korean drama called "Success Story of a Fine Girl" (Some distributors call it "Success Story of a Funny Girl"). This show stars Jang Na Ra and Jang Hyuk. It is also quite popular series for young people. In school, she is outcasted (this is in first episode) because her parents are always cheating people out of money. The girl lives with her grandmother, she does not live with her parents because her parents are always running away. The girl ends up working for a rich family as a housekeeper, she has to cook and clean. There she meets the rich son who is working in their family business (cosmetics business) and they don't get along at all. They fight a lot, but then as they get to know each other, they start to like each other.
(This show is Korean, but there is a version that is dubbed in Mandarin).

There is also a Korean drama called "My Love Patzzi" also starring Jang Na Ra, but with Kim Rae Won and Kim Jae Won. The first episode is about a school girl who gets picked on and not accepted by fellow students, but then when she grows up she works for an amusement park, where she has to dress up as a cartoon character. The rich boss's son of the amusement park (Kim Jae Won) falls in love with her, but her childhood classmate (Kim Rae Won) likes her too (but in primary school, he did not like her, but back then she liked him a lot, he was a jerky kid and chose her evil friend instead of her.) This show is Korean, but there is also a dubbed Mandarin version.

I don't know if these shows are showing on tv now. But if you ever get a chance to watch these, they are quite good.

I don't know where you can find taiwanese drama downloads but I've got quite a handful o' shows to recommend...

for the young / modern dramas:

1. Meteor Garden I & II (aka Liu Xing Hua Yuan)
2. Mars (aka God Mars/Zhan Shen)
3. Dolphin Bay (aka Hai Tun Wan Lian Ren)
4. The Rose (aka Qiang Wei zhi Lian)
5. The Outsiders I & II (aka Dou Yu)

then there are the dramas with settings of the past (i.e. during the time of the dynasties)... but these are mostly made with china. and i can't remember the titles..hehe

After watching two more episodes, it seems the one I saw was a flashback - that is, this series switches b/w the past and the present.

In the last episode I watched, the girl was now grown up, and she works at what I think is a company, although it could be a school. She sleeps with other girls in a dorm, and she went go to see a woman (her sister?) who was caring for this sad old woman who slept all day, very ill. The main character looked after her all day, it was very sweet. Maybe the old woman was her mom ( ) or some other person from her childhood.
