PostPosted: Sat Dec 18, 2004 8:51 pm    Post subject: Spoilers. Identify series based on last episode. Reply with quote Back to top

Since this seems to be the thread for identifying series, here is one that I'm trying to track down. It seemed to be the final episode of the series, so there's probably going to bespoilers below.

I was flipping channels Thursday night, and I caught the final episode of a drama. It seemed interesting, but I wasn't able to pick up a title.

Apperently, this guy's wife and son were killed in a fire, and he wanders desolate in the final episode. He peers in the window of what I assumed were other charaters, watching them have a happy dinner. The wife gets a sense that someone is watching, and steps out to look, but he's gone. He then goes to a beach, where he draws three stick figures in the sand with a stick (to represent him family, I suppose) and then falls asleep, to wake up as the tide reaches him, washing away his picture.

At the end he returns to his burned out home, where he sees the spirits of his wife and son, and after a short exchange, they return to life (?) and two white masks lying in the foreground fade out.

The ending credits show over the three of them meeting up at the airport, and the closing song is either called 'I'm home,' or that might be the first line. I think I've seen the ending credits before, because I recognize the song, but previously they invovled a stop motion sequence with a figure made out of sand.

Does this sound familar to anyone?

Sorry if this is all pretty vague, but it was a kind of after the fact realization that, 'hey, that was really cool, I should track that down.'

I've identified that the closing theme for the above sought series is 'Daisuki da yo' bu Ootsuka Ai. So, does anyone know what series has 'Daisuki da yo' as the ending theme? I also think that the channel was NHK, which would explain why I haven't been able to find mention on the Drama listing by season, since that doesn't seem to include NHK.

*spelling errors corrected, NHK added*

It's actually "Daisuki da yo" or uDv by Otsuka Ai.

Bookwrack: What channel/station was it broadcast on? I don't remember a drama like that aired by KSCI (here in Los Angeles)..

Kotatsuneko:

Quote:

That sounds vaguely like Anata no Jinsei Ohakobishimasu..if "transport business" = delivery service. ^_^

Quote:

I think that's Seikei Bijin, 'cause of the surgery part and the husband being good at ikebana. You can get that at jem's, btw.

Quote:

Home and Away is Home and Away. ^^;;;; You can get that at jem's, too.

Could it be Tokumei Kakaricou Tadano Hitoshi? Maybe you can identify it by the pictures in the official site.. (One of the comments did mention it as raunchy...^^;;)

This is Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi, aka One Million Stars Falling from the Sky. It's the Series of the Week at D-addicts, so go get it ASAP! ^_^

Quote:

That's Okusama wa Majo, or Bewitched.

I think it was broadcast on NHK in Japan, so unless anyone here is riding the cutting edge of drama acquisition, getting copies as soon as the original episode airs, finding other people who've seen it might prove diffilcult.

NHK is available in the U.S. via TV Japan. You can get the channel in several ways:

- Subscribe to DishNetwork, and then pay another $25/month for TV Japan.

- Subscribe to NGN2 via your local cable company. NGN2 is basically TV Japan re-broadcast.

As for NHK itself... We're right not changing that. In the past, NHK dramas weren't being added to the database. However, with Juliana_phang's new project, that will get fixed.

If I am not wrong, it should be Beauty 7.

I think it is Marusa!!It talks about how tax officer goes around to make those tax evaders admit that they have done it. I remember one of the cases she needs to be hostess in a club.

I was watching this dorama on the I-channel before I was hit by hurricanes and my digital cable was acting up. So I missed a good 50% of the series. I want to download it now to see the rest but I don't know the Japanese title for it. ^^; I know it aired before the new dorama, Proof of the Man (which I hate). Also, anyone know where they're seeding Fire boys? I love that show too. lol w00t!

It's a bit off but I remember watching it once. It's about a high school that was mysteriously transported to a desolate wasteland and they had to deal with it. Drama and survival ahoy! I don't recall the name, I wonder if this is familiar with anyone?
