I agree with FusilliBernie about Stand Up!...I only watched it because Yamapi was in it, and it was horribdoinky and just had really stupid juvenile humor. doinkies couldn't even make it through the first episode - I watched about thirty minutes of it before I decided that this wasn't worth it and turned it off.

Another doinky J-drama is Hitonatsu no Papa e. I watched the first three episodes of this one because Ueto Aya was in it. And, well, Ueto Aya was about the only good thing in this drama. The rest of it was the very definition of doinky. The characters were mostly doinks, the music was doinky (except the opening song, Kanshou), the stupid nightclub dance sequences were doinky...ugh.

Hopefully Ueto Aya's next drama, Attack No. 1, will be better though ^^

dramas which make me wanna turn off the tv and regret my wasted money:
1. remote
fukada is cute and all such, domoto is kinda cool, but the plot is stupid, the acting is dumb, what else can i say
2. younger man
aw come one, everyone is sooooo cliche, plus can they get a pretty obasan to be hooked up with katsunori takahasi?
3. kisarazu cats eyes
this drama can be funny but the dialog is not clever, thus make this stupid. but i like the reserve/flashback thingie
4. beauty 7
ths cast is pretty, but the plot is crappy
5. motokare
6. shomuni
another dumb drama
7. young papa
ditto
8. mukodono 2003
ha-ha-ha
9. big wing
as manga, the story can be a bit entertaining, but as drama, ne-hee

Oh my god...

Big Wing - big waste of my money, as cheesy as can be, stopped watching 30 minutes into the first episode
Shota No Sushi - another disappointing manga turned dorama, got to the second episode and stopped...not to mention they also added random characters into the dorama
Gokusen - like Nakama Yukie, but yep...cheeeeeesy
Itazura Na Kiss - I <3 Kashiwabara...but this dorama was too cheesy as well
Trick - weeeeird...not my type of dorama, stopped after first episode
Antique - I finished it...but I really didn't know how, one of the worst/boring dramas I've ever seen, big waste of my money as well
Majo No Jouken - Matsushima Nanako is absolutely my favorite actress EVER, but this dorama still sucked
Yamato Nadeshiko - pretty much some as above, major cheese, I do have a favorite scene from this dorama tho (when MN rubs her face against a fur coat and says "Lucky~~" <--- ^o^ so cute)

There are still others that I'm not fond of, but I wouldn't say it's not worth watching...depends on your preference I suppose. I think when I first started watching j-doramas, I was more capable of withstanding cheesiness, so some of my earliest favorite dramas (e.g. GTO) were pretty cheesy too, but now...I despise cheesiness =P

The shows which i dun recommended are

2) Tokyo Love Cinema-barely scrapped thru the 1st episode due to boring plot
3) SOS-pretty Cast though but boring story

I tried watching Aoi Tori since it has great reviews but I just couldn't get myself to finish the series. Somehow, the plot just isnt my cvup of tea.

+ The perfect bride

But I want to hear you guys opinions about these doramas first. Is it worth watching?

Ring is good if you like horror stuff. Really scary. Almost had nightmares for a week. ashamed

My all time worst would be: Five aka Five Spies. The drama has been shot to look cool I guess, but it just doesn't work. Every shot last about 2 seconds and the camera is always shaking. Enough to make you sick. bleh
Note to producer: Don't hire a cameraman with parkinson that drinks 20 coffees a day or a drunk one. You can also learn how to use a steady cam. rant

I think...the three dramas that I really can't stand and seriously think not worth watching is..

1. Itazanura no Kiss - That girl is very annoying..very very weird and crazy, plus, the story doesn't make any sense.

2. First Love - Such a slow slow story. The hero doesnt show any emotions at all.

3. Sweet Season - Nanako plays this very mean character.

I have yet to see a drama that I completly regret watching. My least favorite was probably To Hitonatsu no Papa. I did not dislike it but it could have been much better.

Worst? I have watched lots of em:

Brand, Food Fight, SOS, Big Wing, Asunaro Hakusho, Akimahende, Tokyo Love Story, Hitonatsu no Papa, Le Bel Homme, Sensei Shiranaino, Antique, Concerto, Golden Bowl, Manatsu no Merry Christmas, 101st Marriage Proposal, Meguri Ai, Nanisama, Narita Rikon, Shomuni 1,2,3, Sutaa no Koi, With Love, Love Generation (Dunno, but it's that bad).

Barely watchable: Gokusen, Heaven's Coins 1 & 2, Koi ga Shitai, Kimi wa Petto, KouKou Kyoushi 2003, Beauty or Beast, Itsumo Futari De, Cheap Love, Koibumi, Be Nice To People,

of course everybody is entitled to their opinions but some people have sooo many dramas that they dislike, hate, or whatever it's seems surprising that they continue watching....what's the point? if a person dislikes so many it seems that the genre is not to their liking....face it.

or it is a masochistic thing where people are watching just to torture themselves and complain about it thereafter?

it's quite vexing actually.

EDIT:

if a mod needs to move this to another thread by all means....i felt compelled to post after reading in various threads about not liking this or that "jdorama or k drama, etc, etc."

sorry for any inconvenience.

I know a fair number of people who watch American TV who say that most of the shows are crap, but they keep watching TV.

Maybe they're just waiting for a good show to come along Smile

most of the shows ARE crap...and that's why i DON'T watch them.....perhaps i'm being too logical. or am i the crazy one? not watching shows you don't like...whadda f*ckin' concept....perhaps the intellectual discovery of our time.

perhaps if one waits long enough and destroys as many brain cells as possible staring at the idiocy of it all they will be rewarded with death.

Bonk

I feel the same way. I really want to know why people hate most all the shows they have seen but keep watching.

I wonder if it may be that they just like to complain in general. I think Some people just feel compelled to complain about everything even though I think they deep down they enjoy things. I think they feel they get more attention by complaining... Beaten

seriously, huh? that's probably true in many cases...they get all heated like that picture of kou shibasaki you have for your avatar... hehe

very funny facial expression...i love her by the way, she's very cool....i'm sure there's about 3 trillion people here who would find something about her to complain about...so i'll try to tip the balance.

There are different reasons for watching a series you don't like. The main one being that it has one of your favorite actors/actresses. For example, S.O.S. I didn't like the series at all, but I ended up watching it because of Kyoko Fukada. Its not like anyone watches Kyoko dramas because of her acting skills anyways. Beat You For the most part I usually don't continue on with dramas I don't like early on though. However since I'm usually pretty picky about what I start to watch, this doesn't happen too much.

oh i can appreciate it that but people who have this long ass shit list of all these dramas they don't like must begin to feel a general animousity toward the genre...so you either alter your perception or expectations or don't trip and "waste your time" as it were!

1. Itazura na Kiss: Kokoto is terribly grating on the nerves though she's well meaning. Naoki is too frigid and aloof. And they remain like that for the greater part of 8.5 eps. There just isn't any chemistry between the leads (possibly because of the ways its scripted) as much as I enjoyed seeing Kassy.

2. With Love: The person who acts as Amane is so boring! Plot moves too slowly. Yutaka Takenouchi is probably the only reason to endure it all.

3. Gokusen: Nice cast and acting but it felt too predictable, exaggerated and staged; and like another friend said, preachy. GTO was much more fun and Eiji Psychometrer had better action sequences and bad boys.

4. Sutaa no Koi: Bearable in the first half, but just lagged in the later half even when one knows where the ending will head.
