You can't use those aforementioned movies as a reference for this drama or vice versa... You're gonna have your strong women and your frail ones... Otsu is a frail one, sort of: She had more than enough determination and willpower to chase down Musashi, ne? That must count for something... Sweat

Funny that you should point out Yae/Koto: those two were even more frail than Otsu, IMO. They were stuck to Kojiro's side like gum on someone's shoe...

IMO, elegance doesn't count for much. Devotion and trustworthiness is tops in mine. I hold myself to those values, and while Otsu's character may have been over the top in that area, it was easy for me to connect with her. That being said, Otsu and Akemi were my favorites.

Don't forget loyalty. That's why Oshino is my #1, I love it when she tells Kojiro "Then I'm your shadow." and when he's asked later on "Who's this woman?" and he says "She's my shadow."

More like "She's gum on my shoe." hehe

Seriously, she seems to be overly subservient to Kojiro as were the other two, Yae/Koto...

Is that why you like 'em? Beaten

Unlike Otsu who bows even to Osugi hehe

You'd be surprised though, my #2 is Akemi Bleah

Or more blatantly: "She's velcroed to my underside." hehe

Akemi was a defiant little fighter Mr Green .

Man, Musashi was his own best contraceptive.... Beaten

At least he didn't get Jotaro killed on his path of bloodshed.

You're not the first to say that. Is it because she's a goody-goody? Naive? Single-minded in her dedication to Musashi? All of the above? Sad

Oh, she's pretty, but...yeah I guess it's all of the above, hehe. She kept being pushed around by people. I suppose it isn't her fault.

Anyway, I just got to the really sad part where Kojiro... Shameful Cry

Prettiness aside, she was sorta frail and stuff. But as I mentioned to Toranaga, she had the strength to go after her man, regardless of the obstacles...

Guh, where can we find women like that in this day and age? Head Scratch Beaten Sweat

Yeah. But in America...everyone would have to question a man that travels around with a boy that's not his son and hides in a shack from a woman. It's called the priest-n-Michael Jackson effect.

I agree. Gotta hand it to these women...I can't imagine where they get the discipline/patience to sit around all day admiring plants and dewdrops while waiting for their men to come home; or the utter devotion to go tromping halfway across the country and risking their lives just to follow them around.

It's kinda dumb and yet...admirable.

I especially liked the parallel bits between the relationships of musashi/otsu and kojior/oshino, and they way musashi and kojiro respected each other so much.

Still can't get over that part though Shameful Cry Shameful Cry Shameful Cry

I think he's the king of doofus. Someone should have whacked some sense into him in episode 1 already... and in episode 2, and 3, and 4, and... etc... *eyeshift*

I think Akemi would be the right one for that job.
