which type of japanese girl? the ones that were born here and raised here, or the overseas japanese girls, quite different. I suppose it just matters how you get along and how well you hit it off if you start up a relationship. From what i can observe and heard from others, Japanese girls(overseas, and american born) seem nice, but i haven't dated any or known any well personally.
That's a good point. I have not dated any Japanese American's only Japanese directly from Japan. I could not really fairly comment on any Japanese American girls except my old roomate who was 1/2 japanese but knew nothing about Japan which I thought was sad. _________________

between the americanized japanese girls and the over-seas type japanese girls, i think i would be open to dating both, but my curiousity and interest are probably more with the over-seas type japanese girl. I realize there maybe more differences, but the challenges could be overcomed, and learning from eachother and growing together while in a relationship could help the relationship. I personally haven't really met any J-girls from japan, but yeah i heard they are sweet and nice. Probably like some j-girls from here. I think the language barrier would be tough, but i think those girls speak some to decent english to communicate. But culturally that would be a bit of a challenge that you would have to be patient with them on as they learn our culture and we learn theirs.

Anyone read my post at the very beginning of this thread? Because that's how I have met Japanese girls. Not that I've gotten to the point of dating them. It still works...I'm not in college anymore, but I still have contacts there.
qilver, if you're going for a Japanese national in the US, usually they at least have a basic working knowledge of English that improves the more time they spend with English speakers. _________________

hmm, ......i have met japanese girls by talking to them in school and work..hang outs etc. and ..yes the girls i know are very nice...hmm this thread makes me rather uncomfortable.
i feel like im generalizing.
Sorry, but I think it is silly to date/want to date a girl just because she is Japanese.
I live in Japan and in general Japanese are well brought up and very nice. However, I also see many Western men here who can't speak Japanese and have girlfriends who can't English, so they can't communicate at all.
I have a friend who had a Japanese girlfriend who couldn't speak Japanese and he didn't even know that she had dumped him cos he couldn't understand what she was trying to say. The poor guy was scratching his head and wondering for weeks what was going on.
Some Japanese women are also known to change after marriage and kids. I'm not referring to those changes most women go through, but rather extreme ones like totally neglecting/ignoring their husbands. I know men with Japanese wives who feel like sperm-donors.
I am not being racist and I am sure there are tonnes of nice, sincere Japanese girls out there. But PLEASE, dating someone because of her race/looks is just shallow.

Most are very nice, never ran into one that was rude.
Heck I can go to the Local Japanese Food MArt, and I get treated by all of them like I'm the Onwer of the building, THey always give me free stuff.
Heh When I went to the Cash Register the guy was telling the lady about me in Japanese, I only understood bits and parts, but she lighty laughed and said it was cute.
lol I come in there all the time to get Pocky and some BOSS Coffee

Hey guys, you're forgetting one thing. You're not married to a Japanese.
Nah, my wife is cool. I'm lucky that (as of now) she's not one of the types as wan wan had mentioned.
I've yet to experience the "child aftermath", as wan wan has mentioned. However, as of this now, so far so good. I'll keep you updated on my experience.
Oh yeah, if your wife can't speak your language, it's best that she learn yours or you learn her's. Afterall, you don't want to end up like that friend of wan wan's. _________________

well i have never met any japanese girls who are mean,um maybe except in high school when your competing with them over something, thats when they can get really mean!
when i was in high school i went to shobu high, which is north of tokyo. girls there can get pretty competitive...

.........
yeah well just cause she is hot n all i agree .. it would wear out quite soon.
but like for me .. i had japanese friends .. girls also. but the more i know about the culture the more i seem to like and would like to have a japanese girlfriend .. feel like as if culturally it would be a good match.
but overall i agree with bmw ... if there is some kind of attraction .. why not go for it .. the attraction might actually help u move ahead to understand each other.. maybe even learn the language/culture faster cause u r really interested...

i would give it a shot ... rest lets see!!
i think no matter what race you are, if you are exposed enough to the j-culture, and have japanese friends, you better your chances in dating/friends with j-girls. I would be open to it, but personally i don't know any. They seem sweet and polite, but that is only from a distance and not knowing them very well.

Yeah what ^ said.
I'm sure if I stayed in Japan for 5 years it wont be long until I find someone, however I'm pretty much to myself, I don't think being shy will help, sometimes I loud and sometimes I just like to sit back and watch stuff for awhile, I've done it since I was small.
lol my mom said when I was born I did not cry at all, I just looked around the room.
