Nothing very extraordianry abt Korean drama... I think people who like it are shallow (pardon me) & people who like jap drama have more depth. Hehehe...
Hey now, one thing is to not like Korean dramas for one reason or another, but to say people who like them are shallow?

whoa why am i not suprise reading comments from atata.. do you hate the dramas or koreans in general? i for one, the koreans in my school are sorta conceited but that doesnt mean i hate nor dispise em, i listen to their music and i quite follow some of their dramas, but i agree! im tired of all the sickness and illness issues they put out.
but dood do you seriously gotta critisize and based on koreans from watching their dramas? why dont u blame on the authors or whoever wrote it. bleh, oh well i can freely say that i hate your rude comments since day one. _________________
PLs enlighten me, how come 'jap' is a racist slur? Here in Singapore people are hardly racist so we don't get offended by slangs like this. Alot of us who love J pop use that. Singapore is a multi-racial country by the way & most of use use this term "jap" without any condescending connotations.

Apologies. However I still feel Japanese drama or pop culture is in many ways far more superior than Korean, more original, less copycat & unconventional. At least its language sounds alot more pleasing to the ears too.
I totally agree with you.
I didn't use 'Jap' as an insult. I thought it's just a short form of 'Japanese'. It's just like calling 'British' 'Brits'.
I admit I haven't watched tons of Korean drama. Thanks goodness... But I think that I've already watched the 'most popular', 'most recommended' ones.
So I still think that my comments are fair.
Besides, this is not supposed to be an objective thread. When I posted this thread, I just want you guys to express your personal views anyway.
I'm actually enjoying the debate going on to be honest
korean dramas are the best ^^ japanese ones feel like lambmeat sometimes but i still like them too, currently watching the last dance is with me, so hearthbreaking

Im watching a terrific light hearted romantic comedy series called Love Rollercoaster which takes place amongst the staff of a posh hotel.
It very good.

i fully agree with you there, @bmw.
I think we can comment about korean dramas in general, saying why we like/dislike them, w/out offending anyone.
Absolutely.
Actually there's a thread about liking Kdramas and recommendations... MAybe this thread should be merged with that one, rather than having two separate ones...

Yeah, I have to agree the cancer angle has been beaten to death in kdramas. Especially leukemia. It's almost as if everyone and their mother has leukemia when it comes to kdramas
What I really can't stand is how drawn out kdramas can get. The beginning and end are generally good, but the middle eps can get so repetitive. However, the kdramas I have watched at least do a really good job at getting you to really hate certain characters and loving others (i.e. friends that make you believe you won a contest and send you on a plane out of the country and then proceed to sell your house and steal your money -- full house)

The substance is totally different though.
Merging this thread with the one on liking K-dramas will be a conflict of interest and may lead to bigger and even uglier things.

Yep, it seems like in every kdrama someone has some disease and dies at the end. Or they fall in love with each other and it turns out they're siblings.
reminds me of A million Stars Fall from the Sky... you know I really find this thread offensive. If you don't like Kdramas don't watch them. No one's forcing you. How would you like it if someone started a thread bashing jdramas
there are some stuff in every type of drama that people may find unappealing because they are not used to it. The content in jdramas may be weird for some, because it's just a cultural thing. the same goes for kdramas, cdramas, or any dramas. It's just a waste of time to go bashing something on purpose

Regardless........
whether a revolution that is quenched , or a conflict unresolved.........
To put my two cents in about Kdramas.........
Im loving Delicious Proposal right now.
And I couldn't stand Lovers IN Paris because that lead actress gives me a rash.

Thanks bmw for sending me the link. I reflected on the comments made by Maya & people who felt that her outburst was uncalled for. I think it's a matter of cultural difference. It's not the same connotation when someone uses "chink" on Chinese vs someone who uses "jap" on this site. The origin of "negro" & "Chink" is vastly different from the origin of "jap" & started by who? So get it clear. For common-sense reasons, people who visit this site love Japanese drama & culture so why would we deliberately use a demeaning term? It's used innocently & if someone reacts strongly against it, then he/she must have some personal issues about racism, probably coming from a country where racism is very common. I would like to check with my Japanese friends if they feel 'jap' is offensive. But now that I'm aware of the sensitivity, I'll play my part because I'd like to respect how the Japanese themselves like to be called, not how other nationalities want me to call them.

Think this is posted on the wrong thread.
I thought this is supposed to be about Korean drama not racism. _________________
I have watched Korean Dramas before...and just like the others were saying, it's always about a character having cancer and he/she ends up dying or love between siblings(or so they thought they were siblings). And sometimes it's always exchanging partners or in a love triangle. I also noticed that there's always 4 leading characters, if not 3 and ends up fighting or marrying the other to get revenge on the other party
But you know...not all of them has a plot like that. I kinda like the kdramas that were funny like Full House, Bright Girl and Sweet 18.
