Densha Otoko which was made from a best-selling novel of 600,000 copies has become a bigger hit than expected. It is expected to break the initial aim of 2 billion yen in ticket sales with the No.1 ranking in last week's ranking. Considering that the movie is mainly shown in cinemas which are smaller in size, every session is a full-house and 60 to 70% of the moviegoers are ladies in their teens and 20s.
The cast is deemed to be one of the biggest attractions for the moviegoers. Nakatani Miki was selected to play the heroine since the real-life character was said to resemble her. As for Yamada, he's very popular with female fans in their 20s and regarded as a good actor who did well as an otaku shonen. In addition, the timing of the movie release is after the comic release but before the drama release in July thus contributing to the robust sales figures. Even the movie's distribution company also expressed amazement at how popular the movie has become in such a short time.
Yamada would be making cameo appearance in the 1st episode of the
drama version starring Itoh Misaki and Itoh Itoh Atsushi. Actually both leads
also made cameo appearances in the movie version. Because both movie
and drama are produced by Fuji TV we can see both versions helping
out each other and it's a first undertaking.
Drama starts airing July 7th, while the staged version will be held at
PARK TOWER HALL on August 5th - 27th.

the image character for Pocari Sweat. The young actress, who made her
breakthrough in the above-mentioned drama series, Sekai no Chuushin de Ai o Sakebu
sheds her high school girl sailor uniform from the last commercial and takes
to the crystal waters of Hawaii.
The movie version of Densha Otoko has exceeded 1 million cinema admissions to
date. At the same time, the novel version sales has exceeded 1 million
copies, making this title a double million project. It sold about 500,000 copies
in the last 2 months alone whereby the movie shown from 4 June helped to
increase the sales too.

Densha Otoko's movie extends its run for another 3 weeks as it becomes a million-seller in just 2 weeks since 4 June. It will also fight with blockbuster Hollywood movie Star Wars 3 for ticket sales as the latter will be shown from 9 July onwards.
The real-life Densha Otoko and Hermes who are currently dating had gone to watch the movie together and faxed their personal message to the press about their thoughts on the movie. They said that Yamada Takayuki and Nakatani Miki did very well in portraying them and they cried when they saw memorable scenes during their courtship.
The movie will run till 15 July while the drama version will start on 7 July.

Kagoshima with only 1 sister!). Parents run an Italian restaurant & 2nd sister is
R&B singer Sayuki.
Yamada moved to Tokyo during high school 3rd grade. He got into the
entertainemnt industry from auditions. Unfortunately schooling and
acting clashed so he dropped out of school to give acting his full force!
His first roll was in Psychometrer eiji 2.
Until these few years he started gettting really popular!

Thanks for the info! Is the singer "Sayuki" really his sister? There isn't any resemblance between them, or maybe I think so because of the bad quality of Sayukis picture.

Yah, Sayuki is really his sister! Maybe some resemblence in the eyes and brows?
Regarding him leaving school is probably inaccurate.
