Did I miss an announcement?

This may just be a book keeping error, but I noticed that in this morning's Chronicle, Saturday, July 23rd, that KTSF will be showing some unnamed movie in the 8pm time slot.

A quick check of Yahoo's TV cable listings also shows an unnamed movie in that time slot, and in future airings they say the movie will continue next Saturday.

Neither KTSF's home page, or the FujiTV home page note a change in schedule... but then, they almost never do.

So the question is: Did anyone notice the announcement of a movie to be shown tonight?

It wouldn't shock me to see Officer Ichiro continue on as normal tonight, but face it... it's not unheard of for KTSF to simply interrupt a show mid way, to show a movie.

Hey photino101

Well, so much for worrying about what the TV guides have to say about KTSF. They showed Ichiro just like normal.

Oh well.

As to AZN, I only get commercials for it. For some reason comcast took the station off my schedule. I used to get it when it was called the international channel on 240 here in Contra Costa County. But someone in the main office decided I needed the golf channel more than AZN.

Well, tonight's was ep 6 of Ichiro, so only 3 more to go.

Too soon to start wondering how they're gonna disappoint me next?

LOL, you're funnny. I kow what you mean though. Although I like Taiga drama I really enjoy the modern series. Quite a few years back there was one series where the lead actor was a Buddhist monk and he had a sister who was really funny. But lately the modern series just haven't been very interesting for me. By comparison, AZN is offering up some interesting programs. There's one set in Singapore I believe. I admit that I'm not a dedicated viewer but I often click the remote to AZN to see what's on. I'm surprised you're not getting it there in CC.

By the way FYI, and this is off topic, but next weekend there is an Anime Con up in Sacramento at the Sunrise Mall. www.sacanime.com/

It's a interesting experience if you've never seen Cosplayers in person. A little slice of the Cosplay and Manga world in Sacramento. I'm plannng to be there Saturday for sure, shooting photos of Cosplayers. And maybe Sunday too.

That's all for now.

Yeah, the SJ Mercury News and the Comcast guide also listed the 8pm KTSF program as "Movie." As far as AZN, it seems that they have dropped most of the Japanese programming that was shown on Sundays. Since it hasn't been English subbed for a few years now.

X (The Hotel)

MediaCorp:
Quote:
The Big Hotel is MediaCorp Studios' mega blockbuster of the year. A production on a grand scale, it features a stellar cast with Fann Wong, Christopher Lee, Zoe Tay, Li Nan Xing, Chew Chor Meng, Jaclyn Tay, Chen Han Wei, Edmund Chen, Ivy Lee, Terrence Cao, Tay Ping Hui, Wong Li-Ling and many more.

The story revolves around a family-run hotel business that was handed down to Miss Seto by her happy-go-lucky mother. Miss Seto runs the hotel together with her sister, brother and sister-in-law. Due to poor management and a horde of ageing employees, the hotel's business goes downhill. The state of the hotel worries the major shareholder, two brothers - Emil and Sunny. Both decide to step in and re-structure the management style in hope of turning the business around. The new versus the old management style isn't the only issue the employees have to contend with. They are also faced with weird, funny and strange guests who turn up at the hotel, stirring up the tense atmosphere in the hotel even more. The persisting saga mellows only when Sunny and Miss Seto's sister started dating.

It's an amusing series, but even more noteworthy is the current Korean drama, 咷 (대장금/Dae Jang Geum/Jewel In the Palace).

Wow, we're getting another current drama. Just like Divorce Lawyer 2, which they aired a few weeks behind the Japanese airings. Crazy

Subtitled J-Dramas are on Saturdays and unsubtitled on Sundays.

The California board has schedules for about twenty stations showing Asian drama series in California.

Yeah, TTV has been on top of it for a while now, showing quality series within a blink of when they were broadcast in Japan.

The bad part is... they're not subbed.

The good thing is... it gives me an idea of which series I might want to hunt for in the future -- with subs.

I'd seen "Crying out, in the Center of the World' the Movie, and loved it. So I had no interest in seeing it as a drama. Until I saw some of it on TTV. Now I want it.

As for Train Man... I'm hot to see the movie because Miki Nakatani is in it. Since I don't think much of the cast of the TV drama I"m not all out of breath waiting for it to start. But who knows? They might surprise me.

The thing I'm interested in, re: KTSF, is what's next on Saturdays.

Ichiro only has two more episodes. Will they go back to the bore fest that is the Ikagami Police station, freakin' #4? Or will they offer something new.

Heck, there are still some low rated TBS shows from 2003 that they haven't shown yet.[/i]

For anyone who's watching "Mars" and "Ichiro," can I just say re. tonight's "Mars" ep.: OMGWTF!!! Can I borrow Tsugawa Masahiko's character from "Ichiro" to give Qi-luo a smack? She needs it!

(NB: I don't advocate smacking anyone around, but I just want her to get a clue. Bang Head Sigh. Maybe next ep we'll find out she's not moving in with who we think she is?)

"Ichiro" started off with a bang tonight, eh?

P.S. My new Japanese friend who lives in the Sunset district of SF says she can't get Channel 26 on broadcast. Is that true, or did she maybe not understand?

I'm LOL because that's one of my favorite shows! Oh well, I guess it's ok to admit to it here. I know it's not rocket science but I like the characters probably because the older guys in the station remind me of a couple of old sergeants I met while in the service. And the headquarters guys, they also fit the mold of higher up's who either don't have a clue or who surround themselves with yes men and/or both.

Actually the trials and tribulations of the police chief and the staff of the station provide a little diversion from the "real" world for me. A little humor, a little office politics...a little morality play. A glimpse at some of the universal issues we all face in a mostly light hearted way.

Not too serious, not to silly, something "just right".

Since tastes in TV vary wildly -- heck I'm sitting in the Bay Area watching Japanese TV -- I don't begrudge anyone their favorites.

I find Ikagami to be insipid.

You, Space Godzilla, a bunch of other JDorama fans, and an absolutely huge audience in Japan really enjoy it.

You just can't please everybody.

In this instance, I'll be the crank. I can live with that.

Re: your friend in the Sunset. It depends on which system he or she is on. If your friend isn't hooked up to cable tell him (or her) to try shifting the TV over to UHF. It should be easier to pick up Ch. 26 that way.

If your friend is on cable, it could be on almost any station. I know that on Comcast, here in the east bay, Ch 26 is shown on Ch 8. But that varies from area to area.

Back in the dark ages, when I was going to college, and couldn't afford cable, I lived in the Sunset, and Ch 26 was one of the few stations that always came in clear as a bell. [/quote]

HI! You're far from being a crank. You're very insightful and when you speak, people listen. AND, when people speak, you listen. That's a good thing!

Ah, maybe that's the problem. Anyway, she tried tuning it in again and had no luck, so I guess she'll just have to wait till she goes back to Japan in the spring, or rent things in the meantime.

Thanks, everyone.

And the TBS 2003 season strikes again!

Officer Ichiro ends it's run tomorrow night, August the 13th.

And according to the TV schedule, it will be replaced, starting next Saturday night, August 20th, at 8pm, by Egao no Hosoku (Always Smiling)

http://jdorama.com/drama.669.htm

I've seen it, and it's a sweet little show.

As he's done a few times in shows like "My Little Chef" and "Wedding Planner", Abe Hiroshi takes a back seat to his female costar, and , in this case, lets Takeuchi Yuko establish herself as a lead. And she did a pretty good job.

This one probably won't make it to many people's top ten lists, but it's a definite step up in class from some of the shows KTSF has been running lately.

"Egao no Hosoku" sounds pretty good. "Slow Dance" is listed on Yahoo's TV listings for Wakaba's slot next week, too, but there's no plot information here:

http://jdorama.com/drama.932.htm

It looks like it might star the very popular (and eminently blah, as far as I'm concerned) Hirosue Ryoko.
