I'm not sure, but there are better people here (kokuou for example) that might know.

The kanji means love, but there are other kanji that are also read "ai".

I would write it like this:
P

@(ai), as you know, means love.
P (na) means graceful.

So your name (P) simply means "Love and Gracefulness" or you could translate this poeticly as "Graceful Love".

I don't know if that character is Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) or not, but I've never seen it before Confused

I'm pretty sure I've heard of this as an actual Japanese name before... If not, then it surely can be used without any a to a Japanese person.

This is how I would write it in

or even

is cute on it's own just like that in hiragana.
Dochira already gave you the katakana, so use which you like the best Victory! Peace!

No prob Victory! Peace!

Yes, your name could be an actual Japanese name (there are very few that can be, however, you are one of the lucky ones Mr Green ).

You would use the above suggestions if you were to actually go to Japan, because foreigners' names are pronounced as close to their original pronunciation as possible.

BUT, just for fun, there is an actual Japanese girls name that means "eye(s)."

 (pronounced "hitomi")

HTH,

Hehe Victory! Peace!

When names go into katakana, they don't have meanings. Katakana, although originally created from kanji for grammatical markers (YES, BELIEVE IT! Hiragana was invented AFTER katakana Beaten), but is now used for foreign words, names, and the like.

So, your name would be:

G}@J[fBi
or
G}@JfBi

depending on how much of the "R" sound is pronounced, and where the stress falls.

HTH,

Yeah, well it's not a Jouyou kanji, it's one of those rare annoying kanji that you hardley ever see. Call me a cheater, but I went looking in my kanji dictionary for all kanji that you could use as "na" in a foreign name. That one was the most 'appealing'. But it's definitley there Mr Green

Wow, this thread is moving along at REAL TIME speed tonight Beaten

Still no meaning with hiragana, since they are only phonetic symbols.

܁@[ł
܁@ł

As for CHIKA, though, that is a Japanese name, but there are SO MANY different renderings for it in kanji:

 (a thousand beauties)
(a thousand summers - NOTE: usually pronounce CHINATSU, but can also be CHIKA)
m (knowledge of fragrances)
q (resourceful beauty)

These are just some of the probably dozens of ways of writing this name.

HTH,

Awww... that is cute Victory! Peace! and so cool to get a Japanese name even though you're not Japanese Dancing

Your name means literally "blessed beauty child," so something like "a child blessed with beauty."
