yes plastic surgery is vain. but i wouldnt judge. human beings are cruel. we set such high standards and thin out the herd. i'm not saying i condone surgery just because youre joan rivers or if you have low self esteem, we just have the power to control our happiness (as wrong as that justification sounds).
and because i'm bitter and female, i'm gonna scoff at "natural beauty" for a sec. i'd like the commend those born with it and applaud those who are able to create the illusion of it. | I don't know if you consider laser procedure done on the eyes plastic surgery. i had that done about 4 yrs ago and am SO glad that i did it. So now I'm not a slave to glasses/contacts anymore! _________________

I see this topic around a lot of forums I have mixed feelings about it. If it were me, I wouldn't get any plastic surgery. It's expensive and risky, and the after effects are pretty painful, from what I hear. I've seen too many shows about freak accidents that happen to people as a result....and they can't ever fix you again if they mess up. I've seen shows where they do plastic surgeries, and they look so painful I don't knock people who get them for good reasons, as long as they don't overdo it (like going from an A cup to a FFF cup, then getting their nose done, then a facelift, then getting the boobs done again cuz they aren't "big enough", then the nose again....see where I'm going??). I also think they shouldn't try to front like they got nothing done. Just admit it and be proud if that's what you wanted!
As for breast implants in particular, I just don't trust it for safety concerns. Plus plastic surgery hasn't been around long enough to show what happens when someone has it for many many years and if things can happen later. Remember how maybe 10-15 years ago they said silicone breast implants were completely safe? Then people's implants leaked into their bodies and they were poisoned. Saline isn't safe either, but that's what they use now! They claim it's safe, but it's not. With the body being 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit against saline, bacteria grows on the inside of the implant after a couple years......I've seen pics: it's scary and disgusting-looking to see (it's green and brown and stuff). So what happens if they leak or have a puncture? That can't be safe either to have old salt water mixed with bacteria leaking into your body. I always thought of this: What if someone with breast implants gets into a car accident and is thrown against the dashboard, windshield, or steering wheel? Is that enough impact to break them? Scary....
I think things like calf implants are just dumb, though.
I also think it's ok as long as it's not overdone and ridiculously unnatural looking. I'm especially for it if it's helpful for someone that is disfigured for some reason or have pain (scars, burns, mastectomies, breast reductions, deviated septums, etc.). For me it mostly depends on the reasoning. Don't do it to please and conform to society, do it for yourself. Be honest with yourself first and do thorough research on procedures and doctors without jumping in too quickly.
