This season is a season for pretty boys or something, since most of the dramas have one or two bishies in there, LOL. It's not a bad thing, obviously ... I'm anticipating only 4 dramas this season. Let's see... Brother Beat because of Tetsuji and Moco , and then there's Hana Yori Dango because the storyline sounds promising and Oguri Shun is such a cutie. Then for comedy, it's Diary of Life with my Evil Wife. And finally, My Sassy Girl because I enjoyed the Kmovie a lot _________________
Yes, the Japanese version of it starring Yamada Takayuki and the girl who was Tsukamoto Takashi's gf in Tiger and Dragon.
MSG (My Sassy Girl) with Yamada! I'm so there!
This is bound to get heavy rotation on torrent sites, probably with subs. The story is already a classic, and with Yamada on board, it's sure to be a hit.

Hmm, this rather confused me. There's no info about this anywhere (except for wiki), and not even in Japanese magazines. Yamada-kun after all is going to have a marathon dorama with Ann Suzuki this coming fall/winter. So can anyone confirm? _________________

Upcoming Winter Drama
Saiyuuki ~journey to the west~
Broadcast: FujiTV, Mondays, 9 PM
Casts:
Shingo Katori - Songoku, The Monkey King
Eri Fukatsu - Sanzohoshi, The Priest
Atsushi Ito - Chohakkai, The Pig Monster
Teruyoshi Uchimura - Sagojo, The Half Water Demon
Scriptwriter: Unconfirmed...some says Kankuro Kudo (Ikebukuro West Gate Park, Rocket Boys, Manhattan Love Story, Tiger & Dragon, Boku no Mahou Tsukai). Some says Yuji Sakamoto (Tokyo Love Story, Last Christmas, Remote, Sekai no Chuushin de Ai wo Sakebu The Movie).
Apparently, FujiTV tries to change the image of its primetime slot dorama, from ROMANCE image...to FAMILY DRAMA image, which kids to adults to the old people can enjoy.
It is also confirmed that other SMAP members will also appear as special guests in the order of Inagaki Goro, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Nakai Masahiro and Kimura Takuya.
The filming of this drama will begin much earlier as compared to other winter dramas which usually starts filming in December. Saiyuuki will begin filming from middle of October due to a lot of location shooting, including Europe. The dorama will also use lots of CG effects. For the action scenes, Katori Shingo has been doing physical training lately.
Saiyuuki-Japanese drama series adaptations, has been made twice. So, I wonder if this will be a remake from the 2 previous adaptations...
1. Saiyuuki (english title: Monkey). Starring Masaaki Sakai(Churasan series) as Songoku, Masako Natsume as Sanzohoshi, Toshiyuki Nishida as Chohakkai, Shiro Kishibe as Sagojo. Produced by NTV, ran for two seasons of 26 episodes each. The first season ran from October 1978 to April 1979. The second season ran from November 1979 to May 1980. Both seasons had footage shot on location in northwest China and Inner Mongolia.
2. Saiyuuki (english title: New Monkey). Starring Toshiaki Karasawa as Songoku, Riho Makise as Sanzohoshi, Akihiro Miwa, Kimiko Yo. Also produced by NTV in 1994, it ran for only one season. The series when released was considered a special effects achievement.

Shinjirarenai! Is FujiTV running out of ideas? The third adaptation...Hmm I hope they do this classic some justice and don't try to condense it too much.
