Hmm, yeah, there is; I have no idea when it was aired, but a friend sent me this massive torrent that has all 51 eps and I was thinking whether or not I should watch it all...I've watched up to ep14 so far...don't know if I should spend the time, since I've read the whole series (36 volumes, right? took forever) and am watching this extremely addictive new japanese live-action series... But I read on another post here that the animé only goes through half of the manga...? Gah. Maybe I shouldn't bother then... _________________

my advice:
don't bother with the anime... it's tooooo bollywood for me... i only barely managed 4 eps...
i got a shock with the bollywood song and dance sequence at the start...
watching domyoji and rui do broadway with tsukushi's knickers showing half the time was really... refreshing...
and the drawing was horrendous, the theme music was really 80s... i think maybe it's an 80s anime?
and after watching it, i realized why folks complained jun didn't look like dom... i think so too, in fact, dom in the anime looks INDIAN!!!
i mean his skin was dark and with the curly hair and his huge frame, man, that's like a bollywood prince!!!

and this guy looks damn like akira in the anime too...

Dunno....in Utaban...Jun was voted as the one who spend less money on his clothes than the other members of Arashi His face was hilarious!!! maybe they put some of Jun's character in this drama...but I think even for him those he would not pay anything for them!!! Who chooses the outfits in the drama??? I want to hit this person for designing such...

I don't think it's tooo "bollywood" the anime was done in '96 so cute musical openings were in at the time. (see Kodomo no Omocha) If you don't like the opening that's fine...skip it. Don't let it ruin a chance to see a well done anime.
The character art came from the manga. The anime is not too far off from the art in volumes 12 and on.
If you don't like the first few episodes just wait a little longer. The first 8 episodes were just the set up to get you into the characters anyway. It gets really good after that.
I watched the anime before reading the manga so I am a bit bias. I really love this anime. I watched it over and over and over again. I still watch it at least once a year. If you want to see a little deeper into the Hana Yori Dango world it isn't a bad choice. Just skip the opening.
So many random stuffs in this thread.. Why is there a boots, boxer short and pictures of Indian actors? lol
Ok, I love HYD the anime too, I've watched it and I don't think it's similar to bollywood stuff, is it because of the dance? I guess they're trying to make an opening like a musical stageplay instead of thinkin Bollywood.
I am bias too..well, Doumyoji's face in the anime was very close in Manga after all it is much easier to draw a similar face then to Mold a human face into Manga character..

i tend to agree....they have a fashion emergency on that show....i DO hope he wears those boots though...with a pair of shorts. LOL.
