Anyways, whats all this about Arashi smoking? I've only ever seen Jun smoke in Tokyo Tower, I didn't think he really does smoke. Thats just so unhealthy if they smoke.

Oh, and about them singing live. It doesn't really matter to me, because they probably wouldn't be able to do all those dance moves if they sang live all the time. ^_^

Minna-san, why Ohno don't have dramas? Never act in dramas? He's obviously acting whenever he put himself in trouble with Nakai in Utaban...and I think, he faked the expressions EXCELLENTLY!!! So, I really think he'd be a great actor, if only he's given the chance. Doushite? I really want to see Ohno in a drama as the lead role
I mean, not even drama specials? Or movies?

I also see Sho and Aiba have great potential to develop into great actors. But why there's not enough good roles, or good dorama deals for them?? Has Aiba ever become the leading role? Sho only have Yoi Ko no Mikata(as the lead role).

Who is Arashi's manager? Does he/she has a good relationship with the boys? I've once heard that Kinki Kids, V6 and Arashi have the same manager, Julie Kitagawa (Johnny's niece?). But, I predict not anymore now, right?

I'm sorry...but as a Smappy, I just cant help myself to compare the situation with SMAP's management. They have 5 managers now, lead by the manageress, Michi Iijima, who has been together with SMAP since their debut, ever since she's the only manager for them, until now she leads other 4 managers for SMAP.
Iijima and SMAP members, have a relationship like mother and sons. The only person who dare to command them, and visciously scold them whenever they do mistakes, yes until now. She still scolds the 33 years old Nakai, who once in awhile still act childish and stupid. But of course, a person who love them the most too.
Back in 1996, when the situation was still hot between Iijima-SMAP, and the agency...then, the agency neglected SMAP for awhile(well actually, they 'kinda' neglected them even until now x)), it was Iijima herself who was working very hard, knocking door to door, to persuade drama production houses and TV stations to get SMAP members, decent jobs. Thus, we can see her hard work pays off now.


I'm just worried Arashi got a lame manager who only wait offers from the TV stations, and lacks initiative. I really hope not. Because talents without good management, is meaningless.

i m not too sure who each of their individual manager is but i know they do since they all do separate work as well. i dont know whether they are close either, but in the secret talk for wish, sho chan mentions how he had a fight with his manager when they talk about the last time they all spent christmas, just the five of them. he also said that the night before a competition in the USG show, sho jun and aiba chan drank so much that the next day his manager was waiting at recepetion and said 'sho chan hontoni mou yamate' (the way sho says it is quite funny) also when aiba chan went you s africa to look after lions, they showed how the crew, and his manager were chased by the cubs.

thought id put pics with the utaban dates. to see how much they change in the years for now i can only do the utabans i have on my comp soz!

the episode where they do dancing, high kick and nazo nazo is from 2000-11-09 because they talk about ninos drama namida wo huite plus sho is 18 in it.

arashi has 4 managers right now, none of them being julie kitagawa lol

shes too high up the pyramid to do that. shes more of a "director" of some of the groups she looks over. but ur right, arashi is one of the groups that she "directs" including V6 and NewS i think. im not too sure about NewS.

neways, arashi has a very good relationship with their managers, if u listen to aiba's recomen remix (his radio), KURO-P (korokawa manager) will appear almost every time. nino talks a lot about STBY (another arashi manager, name, not sure) in his radio as well.
Also, if u listen carefully, in the matsumoto-kun no uta in how's it going DVD suppin arashi hen, the arashi managers joing in the song to celebrate jun's "seijinshiki".

they dont. arashi loves their managers like smap love iijima-jyoshi, and the managers loves arashi and tries their best to get good jobs for them as well.....

and about the dramas....
ohno had few drama specials....none of them were the main characters, but he was in "speed star" with takki, and "1/4 no kizuna".
the reason why ohno doenst get drama roles is that....i dunt want to say this but i think its partly related to his popularity. not that hes not popular, but i dunt think a lot of ppl notice ohno satoshi straight away. being a good actor is important to be on a drama, but its also VERY important to attract people to watch the drama immediatly, which has nothing to do with the acting. its just that, at this stage, ohno lacks that kind of "attention grabbing-ness (weird word)" unlike jun or nino because he was never on dramas before and ppl dunt recognize him as "actor". i think the same for aiba-chan ? but i think he will start to have more chance since hes attracting attention with shimura-doubutsuen.
lets just hope that the program will bring him more jobs, and wont turn him into a complete comedian....lol

Yeah, I believe all the boys smoke too. Japan has one of the highest rates of smokers in the world...impossible that they don't smoke. And impossible to expect the Japanese government to take initiative to promote anti-smoking behaviour considering that it owns half of the tobacco industry.

Anyway, about the drama thing:
Ohno, Aiba, and Sho may not be as high profile actors as Nino and Jun but they still get their fair share. For example, Sho has been in more Engimono than all the other boys, plus he's had quite a few full length dramas under his belt too. Aiba and Ohno have also has Engimono series plus several other small tv movie specials and such. Aiba may not act a lot but he's a regular on a variety show, which none of the other boys are (cept Jun). As for Ohno, he's probably done more stage plays than the other guys. Maybe that's just what he's more interested in.

Also, Sho is starring as the lead in next year's movie version of Honey and Clover. Plus he's got a stage play planned for early March too.

So...in terms of it all, I don't see any or much disparaty (sp?) in how much their manager promotes each person individually.

Regarding the smoking topic. Although I try not to believe that all of them are smokers until I see photos like Nino's case but most probably they are smokers.
When I was in Tokyo and I wanted to enjoy some ice-cream at a cafe and to my surprise that every table except my table is smoking.... including gals.. no only guys are smokers. a lot of gals in Japan are smokers too.. we are suffocating there... I think if I'm in Japan I may smoke also. Cos the only way to prevent myself from suffocating is to become a smoker too. I once saw a making of some program of Arashi (Cannot remember which program/concert), Aida was discussing some work with someone and the person is smoking and blowing onto Aiba's face and Aiba didn't look as if he dislikes it or trying to avoid the smoke coming... if I'm him I will most probably try to move my head away from the smoke that is coming my way...
