WOW.. i just got thru all 35 pages of this thread after finally watching Sekachuu.. o_O

im soo impressed wiht the casting of the drama.. specially with Ayase Haruka and Yamada Takayuki... i fell in love with their characters specially Aki... they were spectacular...

i never cried soo much from watching a drama in ANY language or movie for that matter... a kleenex box was at hand every ep...

however after watching the drama i ended up watching the movie... which wasnt to bad but it just wasnt a tearkjerker as the drama was... i guess lots of holes were needed to filled in the movie and thats wat the drama was for...

over all i think the drama > movie... i have to read Socrates in Love but maybe in the near future... im just wondering tho how consistent is the translation compared to orig or have they changed around?

and im not sure if this is the right place to ask but... can anyone point me to the OST of sekachuu the drama (not the movie) and perhaps the midi of saku to aki??... the midi links were already dead and i cant seem to get any seeders from the d-addicts torrent of sekachuu OST... Sad

No, but don't worry, Sekachuu pretty much swept every single award known to man last year.

I know this topic is already so old... I just wanted to say that this was the first jdrama I ever watched, and I couldn't have started better. It's a real masterpiece, I couldn't find any flaws, it was perfect.
I watched some other sad dramas later, but sekachuu is still my favourite.

I think "Katachi Aru Mono" is one of the most beautifully written songs for a drama. It perfectly sums up Aki's feeling for Saku. I think Shibasaki Kou specifically wrote it for this drama. After all, she starred in the movie version of the film and promoted the book as her favorite novel.

After seeing the series, I bought the movie.

I don't know how anyone can call the movie a masterpiece.

It had none of the poignancy of the series. It was actually stupid IMO.

Having Saku ride around on a moped was absurd. It took away all of the quaintness of the series.

In fact they are two very different stories. There must have been a total rewrite for the series.
The movie, if you did not see the series first, was a so so drama good to play in background while having a conversation with someone.
The series was spellbinding, powerful beyond belief and memorable.
Even now, as soon as I replay the series, I can only watch if for a few minutes and then must turn it off as it is just too overwhelming.
