Wow.... quite some time since I've posted...

I'm also very Shake Head that less and less J-dramas are available on TV....

Anyway, I've just finished watching Love Quotient...
Although it's targetted for a fermale audience, I actually have to admit that it's quite nice!
Story 1 is a bit mysterious and touching at the end...
Story 2 is... well... so, so. (Very typical plot)
Story 3 is more funny. Kou Shibasaki is quite cute playing this character... Drooling

But overall, I prefer story 1. Miki's last statements kinda reminds me of who I am.... ha~
For those who have finished the show, you can try going to its official website. There's games and even a survey result of which character that the Japanese would identify with, prefer to be their bf, etc...
Mr Green

i'm glad you love it.. will go and visit their web now..!! Mr Green

It's a matter of personal preference, perhaps. We must understand that they are serving the entire nation and not just us J-drama lovers. They require some $$$ to buy over the rights to air foreign shows, that's why local shows are prefered. Having limited resources also restricts them to air dramas selectively, that's why they tend to follow the 'trend'. Back when J dramas were more popular, weren't there many J-dramas? Now that it's the K-craze, it's natural that they would want to air Korean stuff more to follow the 'trend'.

Some of the local shows are also okay, I wouldn't say they're terrible, they're considered not bad according to local standards, but if you measure it against asian standards, comparing it to HK, Taiwan, Japanese and Korean Dramas it definitely does not shine among them.

For example, my non-J Dorama lover friends and/or non-cable using friends have no choice but to watch only local channels. As such, they're sort of forced to limit their choices of favourite dramas and actors to a local scale. So we can't really blame Mediacorp. After all, its a channel for the masses. They want to be an all-rounded station that caters to all kinds of viewers.

Perhaps we shouldn't judge Singapore's quality based on the entertainment industry itself. True, I agree that the entertainment industry here pales in comparison to others, but nevertheless, it shouldn't be too major an issue that it will cause pple to think Singapore is 'low quality'.

It's definitely not good news that less J-dramas are being shown, but it's too bad for us. If we want to see a certain drama, i believe we'd go all out to get it. No problemo for us. Mr Green We'll just have to compromise. Take heart, at least there STILL are some J-dramas and programmes being shown, it's better than NONE at all.

i agree with v_ice. To each its own, the channels are just trying to appeal to the masses.

Just to illustrate..... i for one think that Holland Village and Guess 3x has my vote for being the most awful shows on TV(IMO vuglar humor aka in your language "low class" which irriates the hell out of me).... manage to catch 5/10 minutes when i'm channel surfing at times. If i had my way, these shows would be scraped within 1 week.

Channel 8/media crop could show more of Holland Village or Guess 3x like shows to suit you or show more jpnese dramas, latest TVB dramas or acclaimed documentaries (Ch 8 used to make some thought provoding ones... those extraordinary pp docus) to suit me. Usually stations would try to maintain middle ground to appeal to the masses.

I might not like 80% of the channel's programming but hey.... most of us recognise that some might appreciate them.
