u need to go to your media player's "TOOLS" ~
click "OPTIONS" ~ then click "PERFORMANCE" ~
under the "Video acceleration" it must be in "NONE"
(see below pic)

simi taking screencaps on bs player are a lot easier than windows media especially if you want to make a gif.

Just right Click on your BS player and go down to options->capture frame->orginal size~And it'll go directly to w/e folder is on default. You could change the settings on ur BS Player. Well that's all I can help you with since enen already helped out with the Windows Media
