Welcome! Haha yeah, I thought the same thing. After seeing that "Harry Potter!?" joke in one of the episodes, I think that song might've been inspired by the HP soundtrack.

Ohhhh him! Haha. I've only seen the first two episodes of the drama so I thought he would come in a later episode or something. He's a funny guy. I like his relationship with Domyouji and how they somehow became friends.
It almost seems like he just there and Domyouji just gave up on trying to punk him around.....
Though how Sojiro and Akira always complains
Is it just me though or does Sojiro looks better and cooler in the drama and Akira looks more worthy of the H4 look in the manga.....
I think in the drama, Sojiro and Akira didn't make fun of Domyouji enough for not being girl smart and not getting laid... _________________

my thoughts exactly too o-o i actually didnt think about a HYD part II until my mom brought it up (my mom have watched the series about a dozen times up to now and still counting)
come to think of it, i think (or rather hoping ) there should be a sequel to HYD, coz of 2 reasons :
1. this may sound silly, but at the end of this series, the very very last scene, makino was smiling with the phrase 'see you soon!' at the corner of the screen. i'm not being too detailed, but in jap series (like say initial D the anime), they usually mean it when they say 'see u soon' at the end of the series. initial D is already up to stage 4 by now so i'm rooting on the chances tat HYD has the same line of thoughts
2. the drama barely showed a quarter of the manga plot. HYD have only touched on the beginning part of the manga, there is still a whole LOT more to the story than tat and i can already imagine the sequel picking up where they left (not giving any spoilers ^_^). there is way more depth to the story to be left hanging there.

youhei_mito~ i definitely agree with you there. There is hopefully, if not probably, going to be a sequel to HYD... that will satisfy all us fans out there ^^. To be honest, I've never actually seen the manga, but i believe that it, like most dramas, do not really go deep into the manga plotline. But yes, i really hope there would be a "HYD II" ^^ more of jun~ XD

Hello again... I don't think I've introduced myself properly on the forum. My name's Lee and I'll be 27 on the 8th (hah!). I live in Richardson, Texas. I need to break this habit of staying up late just to watch doramas! It's messin' up my schedule! ^__^
Anyway, I myself haven't read the HYD manga (or seen the anime), so I really don't know if there'll be more to the drama or if that's the end of it. I guess it'd be wonderful if I knew what actually happened to them afterwards... And HYD was such an awesome production, I wouldn't mind if there was a second season.
I'm a bit of a dorama novice, so I don't have much to compare with it - but didn't HYD seem to have a movie feel to it or something? I mean, the camera treatments and the wardrobe... just overall production design... and the soundtrack! They're all way beyond ordinary.
Um, and also - has anyone seen the DVD box set on amazon.com? It's $132!!! Eek! I wonder when it'd be released here in the US, and if it could be any cheaper (I doubt it!). I really like the box, though.

it'll be interesting to finally see this in live action, japanese style... but has anyone heard of Meteor Garden? It's a Taiwanese soap based on HYD as well... I've already seen it and I think it'll make a good point of comparison... specially since the cast was pretty good _________________

Welcome all you new people!
I've finished re-reading the manga now. LOL. hmm...maybe I should re-watch the whole lot of the drama...hehe. I re-watched up to epi.4 & it seems to have done the trick of un-hooking me off Yamapi (only slightly though) and hooking me back onto Jun.

Kumusta Lee? Anyway.. I don't think that's the Original Boxset.. from what I know it's coming out in March.. and it's definitely going to be worth more than 132.. but then again, it was only a 9 episode series..

I definitely liked HanaDan better than Meteor Garden. Well, that's just me 'coz I've always been a fan of the manga and the anime ( 6 years and still going strong because of the TBS version).
Meteor Garden was an okay attempt though they did get the story as close to the manga as they could. It's just that the actors weren't convincing enough for me.
This version however, made me squeal so much (it was that WAFFy), I fell off the sofa while watching. To think that Inoue Mao, MatsuJun, and Oguri Shun played the lead (major swooning!). My only regret is that's too short!
You can read the manga (36 in all) though just to tick off the discrepancies, but then again that's just what nutty people like me do.

Hi! Kumusta rin! I guess I'm doing alright. Although I'm getting more and more sleep-deprived every day! Gaarrr!
I just hope I'd get the chance to download at least a high quality version of HYD... it takes such a long time though. This drama is so pretty, YouTube doesn't do it justice.

1. i was just wondering about the doumyouji mansion... do you think it was shot on location in japan or in some other country? for some reason i couldn't picture a house that massive in and around cramped tokyo. well maybe if somebody's filthy rich like the doumyoujis they can afford to buy a huge parcel of land and build an equally huge house on it.
2. about mimasaka akira - are his parents part of the yakuza or something?
3. and are tea ceremony schools really that big of a deal in japan?
4. do you think the "fabulosity" of eitoku and its students was exaggerated, or could a school like that actually exist?
sorry about the stupid questions... here i am wreckin' my brains out trying to distinguish fact from fiction!
