Um noooooooooo. Thats like saying my computer is similiar to a typewriter.

GO is a million times more complex than othello. It only takes a day to learn GO but it may take you years before you even become good at it.

There are computers that can play chess with the top chess pro but the best GO program in the world won't even stand a chance against the lowest ranking GO pro.

This is chinese chess. Found this on google. http://play.chessvariants.com/coffeecc/index.php
It's java based. Only against comp though, but good for practice.

I learnt chess on my own, thru playing with the computer.. (chessmaster, anyone?)

I only learnt the basic moves, and I never, ever learnt the strategies. No one plays chess with me, anyway.
