I had read the novel "Socrates in Love". It is the original novel than is based the film and the JDrama. But it is diferent to both. For example, the wedding photo story is NOT at the book. The book is very simple and short. Saku only has a friend, Aki have not friends. Present Saku girlfriend is only at two last pages...

The book is well, but the JDrama is very better. It is my favority JDrama.

Sorry for my poor english, I am from Spain (Europe).

It's the greatest Japanese drama I have ever watched. It isn't only a teardrop drama, but it makes me to rethink the fundamental meaning of life. I will defintely recommend it to all my friends.

Yes, this drama moved me, too, as it did the others in this thread. It's a shame that others don't see it and vote for it. Somehow, I think there are people who, even if they avidly watch Japanese dramas, are still missing out by passing this one by -- hopefully not for yet-another-KimuTaku drama...

If I could vote again, I would.

Yes it is different. I read it as well. I also agree with your opinion that the dorama is better than the book. The book was good, but I thought the drama was more interesting. I also ended up like the characters more in the drama than in the book, even though they are similar.

this is really a tear jerker... frankly the start of the show was a bit slow for me but later on the plot thickens as the relationship deepens between the two leads... i was sort of laughing when i watched the cute jealousy and insecurity by Sako towards Aki, which was unnecessary coz Aki liked him a lot Bleah then, i was crying all the way from the discovery of her illness right to the end... my goodness, i have never tried this much before... Shameful Cry the storyline was very very touching and the actings so convincing and touched.... this is a recommended show i say as it shows how one's life should go on even after the loved one's death... the songs too are soooo sentimental Shameful Cry P.S, anyway, does anyone has the ost and is willing to sell or make a copy and sell it to me? as I do not have any broadband to download the songs...

Just finish 11 eps of this moviecc..although there is a happy ending but Ifm still feeling somethingfre not satisfactory,c. about reasons to love, meaning to live, afterlife, about heaven, about blue sky, about Gan ba re, and many more I canft writedowncccc

I wrote these lines while I was listening the OST album of Sekai no chuushin de ai o sakebu. I donft know how to show my feeling. So hard...

Saku asked God gwhy am I still alive? what does it mean to live?h. Aki asked her sensei gwhat am I dying for?h . 2 questions made me thoughtful. with Aki, the most beautiful place is in Sakufs arms, not heaven, not Uluru. I never believe in what called weird. Weird is used to comfort us when something wrong. I have to admit that Lifefs unfair with Aki and Saku. After finishing this movie, manyone would cry. Crying for a beautiful love but unable to have a happy ending. I like the way Saku shows his love to Aki. I like Akifs actions too. Shefs so kawaii. If Aki hadnft had leukemia, Aki and Saku would have had a happy ending. I know Aki was happy when she went out of life. She found a real man and her 17 years were meaningful with Saku. She didnft go to a world without Saku because Shefs inside him ever the time pass, wherever Saku go to, whatever Saku doccc.Itfs hard when losing someone. Forget or not isnft the matter. Living for whom died is more important than missing themc..I thought that.

Does anyone wonder why Kyoichi Takayama used Socrates in tile of the book? Socrates is name of a play in gShakespear in loveh. The original tile Kyoichi planed on calling it is \NeX (Koi suru Sokuratesu). Socrates also is the name of a famous Greek philosopher who is the teacher of Plato. One of his beliefs is gunderstanding yourselfh. I remember that Saku told Aki: gbe the way you areh, gbe yourselfh. And on the last times of Aki, shefs stiil be herself, do as she likes. OMG, Ifm cryingccc.. we know there are many people trying their best to resist deseases. I can only say that: gtry your best, ΂āh

Do you often listen the Sekai no Chuushin OST or do you have some musics of it on your playlist ?
It makes me really sad but I need it to recall me the most important moments of the drama. I can't forget all the images I have in my head of this story which seemed me so realistic. Do you have endured the same thing ? Surprising that a fiction can have so much impact.

Track 2, "Saku to Aki" if I'm not wrong, it's the music which can be heard principally in the first episodes when they were happy. I like it a lot also but my favorite is the last one on the OST "Sora no hate he". Contrarly to "Saku to Aki", it's a very sad music which evokes me Aki on his hospital bed, struggling in vain against his leukemia.

I read some pages of "Socrates in love" and I was a little ankward, I naively wanted to find again characters who look like Saku and Aki in the drama. I assimilated these actors to the fictional characters they perfectly incarnate in the story.

That's right. I like "Saku to Aki" because I'm afraid of sad melodies make me evoke sadness and pain of Saku and Aki. They hurt me.
Sora no hate he = End of sky.............. hix, I want to see the bluest sky in the world........... just like Aki............. Puppy Dog Eyes

I watched both of drama and movie version but still not read the novel. I like the drama most. The manga is not bad but the drama is the best.
