I think the JPN variety shows are WAY funnier than the movies, but unfortunately most do not have subs. Groink may have some that are subbed. (Don't quote me on this, just guessing) _________________

Hmmm my japanese tutor (aptly named Gentaro...) once recommended this comedic duo by the name of downtown i think (??) we have the same sense of humor so they're probably funny i just never checked em out
Try "Hard Luck Hero" starring all V6 members and this film is made by a good director called SABU. Surprisingly it also got invited in the Berlin Film Festival. I've found this movie is hillarious and original. It's been out on DVD now and it has English Subs... I think in V6 thread someone has made this movie available for downloading

My first post.
Maybe some kind soul could recommend some more decent JPN comedy movies worth watching?
Hello there! Welcome to the forum!
Check out Japanese Movies-thread in this section. The first pages of the thread have some comedy recommendations, browse the pages as well and you see other movie recommendations besides the comedies
Watched Ryuhei Kitamura's Alive-movie last night. Pretty claustophobic, stuck in one place, space to move is narrow. Pretty good movie, didn't fully understand the whole story due to the crappy translation, errors on grammar, hehe. Once again, we see Hideo Sakaki/Tak Sakaguchi-pair in the movie, they appeared in Versus . There is a little pun before the confrontation of theirs. They are Kitamura's trusty actors.
Kitamura is not Kitamura without the superstitious one on one battle scenes

I love the fight scene in "versus"..is there any great fighting scene in "Alive"? What do you think looks better as the villain Sakaki Hideo in Versus or Sakaguchi Tak in Alive ?

Just finished Moon Child.
....all i can say is the story is not my cup of tea, i don't like gangster type movie, cos somebody must die eventually and usually had bad ending..
I will give 4 out of 10.
Mostly bcos the three lead.... esp hyde, he looks soo damn kakkoi.........................the kakkoiest...
Lastly, why Leehom must die in every movie, the one with fujiwara norika too.......
still got messenger, give it all, and the shunji iwai's movie starring eguchi yosuke and yamaguchi tomoko...

Alive's fighting scene isn't close to Versus', actually it's pretty short compared to Versus. Loadsa special effects in the fight, slow motion and bullet time. As far as I remember Versus didn't have the special effects, just pure fighting.
Tak's bad guy's role was rather small in Alive, it's hard to make the conclusion. Wasn't a talkative person, hehe. I'd have to say Sakaki as the better bad guy so far. Hopefully we get to see more the duo's movies in the future

Ah..too bad, he didn't say much in that movie. I agree that Sakaki is more suitable as a bad guy, he reminds me of Tadanobu Asano a bit. A cool guy that can be a cool bad guy.
O..yeah, there's a new film starring both of them and Ozawa Takao, Kato Masaya called "Aragami" it's also directed by Ryuhei Kitamura. Phew..I love all of the cast.. I wonder what's the movie is all about. Anybody knows?
The last J-movie that I watched is Sabu's "Hard Luck Hero" starring all of V6 members...it's pretty hilarious and surprisingly V6 delivered good performance. I wish the best of luck for SABU and V6 for Berlin Film Festival next year.

Yup! They both are versatile actors, able to perform good and bad guys roles.

Another Sabu's headless movie, hehe. I wouldn't mind seeing the boys' performance.

Not that I'm big V6 fan but they are really good..hehehehe...SABU has been my favorite ever since I watched his tragic comedy film called "Postman's Blues"
So...Aragami is Versus 2? Wow...can't wait to see it. You know, after watching Ryuhei Kitamura's movies (Versus, Azumi) it made "Kill Bill volume 1" looked like kindergarten action.. hehehehe
If someone's into low budget splatter movies, have a look at Stacy: Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies! Hehe, the movie needs no introduction as you can see from its title Available at suprnova.

Is "Kyuki No Sakura" good or not? Yosuke Kubozuka starred in this movie. I need opinion coz I'm thinking of buying this movie. Same goes for Tsuyoshi's movie "Yomigaeri".
