Yeah I agree!! They really gotta see the replays. Like Zidane's headbutt, no ref saw it at first
yup...not that i'm condoning his action but technically according to FIFA rules because the ref or the linesmen didn't see it with their OWN eyes...they shouldn't have kicked Zidane out of the game.
I HATE PK's. If only Zidane's header could of gone in....what could of been XD
yeah, the refs this year truly sucked, and I didn't like the ref for this match either, it was the same one who refed the portugal vs england game
I don't know what materazi said to him, but if I were Zidane I would of waited till the match was over and then kicked his ass But b/c of that red card he couldn't even lead his team to the stadium But I still want to give him a standing ovastion for a great career _________________

yeah, it was wrong of them to show that replay in the stadium's screens _________________
hahaha! zidane's headbutt video has been the most watched video in today. seems like this match will be remembered more on this headbutt than the overall team performance. _________________

Yeah.. like portugal's matches, that will be remembered from Ronaldo's dives

really. and even so, if you read the comments on youtube about the zidane's incident, most are still treating zidane as the hero while putting the blame on Materazzi.
i'm not trying to provoke anybody to treat zidane as villain or anything, he's a great footballer and i accept that fact. but well, he's a human and when he makes mistake, people have to be fair and dont blame somebody else for it.
what do you think about the tournament overall, by the way? i think in term hosting, germany has been awesome. but in term of games quality, i think some teams just dont play up to expectations (maybe my expectation was too high). i've seen better world cup before. and there was not enough goal scored in this tournament. but to be fair, some goals are world class.
refs were the biggest scumbags in the tournaments, up until the quarter finals. but they've done very well from semi finals onwards. time for video replay, mr sepp blatter.
game of the tournament (IMO)- germany vs italy.
goal of the tournament (again, IMO)- maxi rodriguez (Arg) vs mexico.
the media here said the argentina goal against serbia & montenegro was the greatest goal. that one was good too if you consider teamwork. they actually passed the ball more than 20 time before scoring.
so, 4 years from now, next world cup. i'll be waiting and hope that it will be a greater tournament. _________________

FIFA: No video replays in sending-off
"FIFA have insisted video replays played no part in Zinedine Zidane being sent off in Sunday night's World Cup final.
The France captain was red-carded after head-butting Marco Materazzi's chest and the off-the-ball incident was missed by referee Horacio Elizondo and his linesmen, but was spotted by the fourth official Luis Medina Cantalejo.
FIFA spokesman Andreas Herren told PA Sport: "The fourth referee saw the incident with his own eyes and told the referee and the assistant referee directly though their headsets."
FIFA say although the fifth official does have a TV monitor, he is not permitted to intervene, and the fourth official has no access to video replays.
In his post-match interview, Domenech claimed: "The referee saw nothing, the assistant referee saw nothing and then we have the fourth official saying to the referee what happened. We have video replays in football and then the fourth official tips off the referee."
------------------------
this is shady, I've seen so many matches through the years. and I've never ever seen the 4th official warn the ref about anything. let alone the 5th. And if he does have a monitor. I have one question: WHAT THE HELL FOR?! he can't intervene, he can't confirm a goal. He can't do shit. the FIFA is the most useless organisation in the world. including it's bribed leader Blatter. He doesn't want any radical implementations that would improve the game, like hi in what year do we live you dinosaur: how many times have we seen dives that resulted in penalties, those things should and could be ruled out forever. Simply by looking at replays.

i agree...it's obvious FIFA officials are stubborn and have a big soccer ball up their asses....they know nobody saw the damn foul yet they insist for propriety's sake that an official saw it...that call came so late it happened today.
fo' reals...they were way TOO many dives....you would have thought the players liked snacking on grass or something.
if one of FIFA's stated goals was to prevent diving: THEY FAILED MISERABLY.

Yet another example of ridiculous FIFA antics: they hand in their votes halfway the match. Same happened with Oliver Kahn last tournament, he won the golden ball while he screwed up bigtime by letting the ball slip but it was decided even before the match started.

yup...they gave kahn the award before he failed to block 2 goals and they lost 2-nil.
sorry if someone finds it offensive . i dont think anybody here will, though.
that is pretty funny...but incredibly hypocritical coming from an Italian fansite when the Italians are KNOWN for diving and rough play....moreover, what's more disgraceful Zidane or MAJOR teams in Serie A Italian soccer under indictment for Game-fixing, bribing referees, and corruption...
the Italians should really shut the hell up because the credibility of the entire division (Serie A) has been tarnished and stained.....those teams make millions upon millions of dollars yet they find it necessary to resort to cheating and other corrupt practices.
excerpt from L.A. Times article:
In all, 26 people, including referees, soccer federation officials and the executives of four top Italian soccer teams, stand accused in the largest scandal in Italian sports history. Most of the charges in the so-called "megatrial" involve an alleged conspiracy to pick and choose favorable referees and otherwise throw matches.
As punishment, Italian Football Federation prosecutor Stefano Palazzi is demanding that Italy's most famous soccer powerhouse, Juventus, be demoted from A to C division, the lowest level. Juventus is also in jeopardy of being stripped of a couple of past championships.
The other three teams that are implicated, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio, would be relegated to Serie B. It would be the equivalent of sending a major league team back to the minors, with huge loss in revenue and status.

huh? i never realized that it was in italian. i thought it was in french.
stupid me.
throwing matches??? can you imagine that...arguably the most famous football league in the world and the top teams are throwing matches on purpose....disgusting.
it doesn't excuse zidane's misstep but i'm still curious to find out what exactly transpired...you know he must have said some really dirty sh*t.

Firstly, I wanted France to lose because I thought ( and still think ) that the French players are much too pretentious ... but I've watched the final and I think the Italians didn't deserve to win . They didn't do the match , they were tired , they didn't play very well .
and about Zidane ... the Italian player did insult him , so Zidane punched him , I think he did the right thing ! seriously, if someone insults me, I kick his butt too ! the Italians knew that , without Zidane , the French team would be perturbed .
that's my opinion anyway !
