I think this season for 2006 Summer dramas has a lot of problems, hence a lot of low ratings.

SAPURI
I'm in the demographics to watch Monday night dramas: female, in her 20~30s, likes a good love story with a plot...........
BUT "Sapuri" puts Itoh Misaki on a Monday night with a KAT-TUN member and very few "stock blockbuster actors" to help fill in the cast (think "PRIDE," "Last Christmas"...people love 'em!). Personally, Kamenashi + Itoh Misaki working together is not going to inspire 30-somethings. The story also is a bit here-and-there, and you're never sure why you should care about any of them.

SHIMOKITA SUNDAYS
Ueta Aya normally can pack a punch with her fans, but here she is playing an unlikely goofy, awkward and just plain boring main character. The humor is not IN-YOUR-FACE like many of the other humorous dramas Ueto has starred in. It's a bit "nerdy" for lack of a better word? A lot of the comedians who appear in this are more of an impact for their fans than Ueto Aya could be. And yet--the show is NOT funny (and the blogs that say it are apparently get the dull jokes that the rest of us don't).

REGATTA
Let's face it, Mokomichi alone is still not a common enough face to bring in high ratings. "Gambatte Ikimasshoi" anyone? Talk about snooze fest! And they even stole one of the characters again??? (to the person above, it's about boat-racing/regatta-racing)

DANCE DRILL
To be frank, it SHOCKS me that this has a rating over 6%. The story doesn't know WHERE it's going...But never underestimate the power of the public dying to watch teenage girls in any type of uniform with a high skirt. ;--;

"Kekkon Dekinai Otoko" has surpassed my expectations and is my fave with "Fushin no Toki" followed by "My Boss, My Hero," (a remake that was popular will probably be popular in drama form, duh!) "Dare yorimo..." and "CA to Oyobi!"

..........ending rant!

Wink

I should say that "Taiyou no Uta" is not so bad, too.
Two actors who seem doomed to play depressing roles for another year or so: Yamada Takayuki and Sawajiri Erika.

(In "Sekachuu," "Byakuyakou," & even "Koi ga Shitai x3" his characters never really 'get the girl+happy ending'. Sawajiri just has the unfortunate beginning of being killed off in her first starring roles. Sweat)

For the past week, Dance Drill, CA to Oyobi and Shimitoka Sundays ALL went below 10%. Terrible.
Shimitoka Sundays only got 8.1%. And i'd thought Regatta's 9.5% was the lowest a drama can go..

Dangs, taiyou no uta 6,9 and regatta 5,2 Sweat What I dont get is that how is Shimokita Sunday doing better than taiyou no uta or regatta? That show dammit sucks so bad. Still watching it though ahahaha... taiyou no uta totally deserves more than 6,9... I hope the ratings get up though Sweat

Yay, My Boss is doing real good, and Kekkon Dekinai got over 15 % w00t! kekkon dekinai probably keeps rising from now on.

Taiyou no Uta recently had its movie in the theaters. Most know what it is about.

It's nothing that special.

YouLre totally right. ILm totally dissapointed about this yearLs dramas. None ILve seen I could say itLs good. The stories look like theyLre all the same old stories youLve must seen once, in another dramas, with different actors and some difference on the plot.
ILm honestly tired to see an officer lady falling in love with a younger guy, but it wouldnLt be so tiring if we had more carismatic leading actors - sorry to say, but Itou Misaki is far away from being a good actress like Shinohara Ryoko (Anego) or Koyuki (Kimi wa Petto). I donLt see chemistry about her and Kamenashi. They look so wrong together.

And although I love tragic dramas, Taiyou no Uta is a bit boring. I wouldnLt say itLs good neither, but I truly was hoping for something better. Also in this case, the leading pair donLt seem to have any chemistry.

Because youLre all saying that Kekkon Dekinai Otoko is good, ILll give it a try. With Abe Hiroshi, it looks like this drama is promissing. Hope ILm right.
