The poll nothwithstanding, shouldn't this thread be part of the Shinsengumi thread? Head Scratch

I think I'd drop dead if found out that at least one noob would use the search engine around here. Shake Head

Maybe we should make it mandatory for new registrations to read forum rules before they are allowed to join, just like when installing a PC application your have to go through the Read Me file and accept whatever conditions before you are allowed to proceed.

And before you say it - the above should really be moved to the 'Suggestions' thread... Bonk

Well, my suggestion that I made on the Suggestions thread was to only allow moderators the ability to create new threads... All regular schmoes are locked out... This would also prevent spammers and bots from starting new threads as well.

back to the topic at hand...

49 eps, that makes 13 DVD's (as they're marketed here), average of $15-20 per disk for this type of DVD, and you're already at $200-260 just for the DVD's alone.

Add in the cost of packaging and translations, VOICE OVERs for a R1 release, mastering DVDs and you're looking at adding at least another $100 to the cost of the set.

Let's just assume that they've spent $2.5 million just to produce the series on R1 DVD. They'd have to sell 10,000 units @ $250 just to break even. This isn't even inclusive of profit margins or dealer markups.

... and im not trying to be a sour puss, just injecting reality.

And not to mention that Region 1 is not their main focus in selling DVDs. They almost assume that you already know Japanese before buying such a set.

To all the Shinsengumi-faithful I'm writing this post because I TRULY enjoyed that show. THE GREATEST TAIGA-DRAMA ALL TIME AND GENERATION! I loved very thing about it. If you've read my review on the series, I've indicated very thing there is to mention. The cast, the music, the production quality--everything. Especially the Beautiful, Gorgeous, Pretty, Cute, Hot, Sexy, White (Complement), Light, Soft, Smooth, Clean-skinned girls (Not the elderly women like Kondo's mom and Kauze's mom). My favorite character of all time from the series is none other than Koji Yamamoto as Toshizo Hijikata. He as born for the that roll. Not to SOUND gay or anything but I think he's an attractive guy, well all the male actors in Shinsengumi were all kind of attractive. Like I said I'm not trying to sound gay! To to make things sound more legitimate everybody was attractive. But of course my preferences are the girls in the series. Now my friends, I'm on a crusade to petition the manufacturors in Japan to start producing some Shinsengumi DVDs on region 1 or region free w/Eng. Sub. over here in the States. There are a lot of us who watched the show 2 years ago or so who loved the show and developed a lust to buy it. Many of us are waiting for this dream to come true or they had to were desperate enough to buy a Region Free DVD player and bought the Region 2 DVDs without the Eng. Subs. Let me tell y'all something now, I am tired of waiting for those manufacturors in Japan to begin producing some Region 1 or Region All DVDs of the show! I'm tired of watching crappy Honky-Tonk, Crackerjack crap like "Law & Order", "Nip/Tuck", "Desperate Housewives", "Friends" and everything else that's boring to me. Being part Honky myself, I'm tired of it. We must convince companies such as YesAsia and the other websites to start designing Shinsengumi Region 1 or All format DVD's. HEAR MY VOICE! I want my voice to be million. Not just for myself but all who love Shinsengumi but live here in the States and have no resources to obtain it with Eng. Sub. I feel so empty and imcomplete without the Shinsengumi in my Asian movie collection. I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way, too. When you--the Shinsengumi-Faithful--read my post, you can sign a petition a made. just go to GoPetition.com and sign my sign. I already got 2 signatures, I need about a billion more signatures. So support my cause. Join the Revolution called "The Asian Invasion" not the "The British Invasion (c.1960's)". Asian Power!
