Memory is tricky...

The first one I remember watching was "Ashita ga Arukara" which was kind of "forced" upon me by my girlfriend at the time. It was an average show with a terrific theme song.

But the show that really showed me that J-dramas were worthy of my time and affection was "Aishiteru to Ittekure," the seminal drama starring Toyokawa Etsushi and Tokiwa Takako.

This was the mid-nineties and a LOT of great TV came out at the time. What a time to be a fan...

My first was TRICK

i was channel surfing one sunday and saw the very begining of the first epsiode (what luck!!!) then i tooned in every sunday without missing a second. the show was really clever and smart with cool characters and funny believable actors. since it was the first Japanese TV show i saw it left me hungry for more!! now i watch "Younger Man" every sunday

i feel like there's a whole world of great television and I'm stuck in the U.S with horrible sitcoms and crappy shows

my first one was " densetsu no kyoshi"

I just loved this drama and i'm still thinking about it , i just love dramas that take place in a " school ambient" (maybe because i am a teacher)

My life at school was so terrible an i hated every second when i was just a student , so i would liked to had a teacher like namba sensei ( densetsu no kyoshi) or somene like onizuka(gto) ...

thats why when i am teaching i just try to be like then....i know its just a drama but i really believe that a teacher should be more than just a guy who know more than you about something , but an older " friend" that helps you in difficult times too.....

oh...i became to dramatic now......forgive me.......

the first jap drama i watched was love 2000... it was the one that started the jap frenzy in singapore... however, its lovey dovey theme didn't appeal to me... i jez brushed it aside as an avg show... but the one that got me hooked on was news no onna... its hilarious and full of plot... it was like a first experience for me... and it has a young hideaki takizawa and kyoko fukada in it, whom appeared only as a cameo... from then on, i looked out for jap dramas and would get my hands on any of them... I know how you feel. Television wouldn't suck so much if they got rid of that reality crap. At least we're getting a taste of the stuff from Japan... Better than nothing at all, neh? Smile

First dorama I've seen was "Oh, Dad!" simply for Ryoko Hirosue. I normally watch KIKU here in Honolulu for "Soko Ga Shiritai", but after I saw the dad and his son have that fight, I was hooked. Then I taped "Merry Christmas in Summer", "Summer Snow", "something wife (woman takes over unagi shop), and "Where is Love".

I don't watch doramas anymore...though I wish I saw "Summer Snow" last because it's my fav.

I watched Tokyo Love Story first, but I'm not interested at all..
Dunno why, may be I'm too young to watched that dorama.
I was 7 years old when I watched it Mr Green

Then, I watched Sugao No Mama De (Just The Way We Are) and I was deeply in love with that awesome dorama Lovey Eyes
From that time I started to watch dorama until now Smile

My first J-drama was GTO. Didn't get hooked on right away since I was more into anime at that time. But after finishing GTO, just couldn't get enough.

The first J-Drama I watched was one called "Life with Dad." After that, one day while flipping through channels I landed on Trick and have been hooked ever since.

Dekichatta Kekkon. So funny and Hirosue in the later stages of the drama looked so kawaii!

The first J-Drama I was hooked on was GTO because I always wanted to see how he'd help the student in each episode. I especially loved Tomoko's story.

The first show I really started to watch seriously was Churasan. I quickly started to expand after that. I think the next show was Kochira Hon Ikegami Sho. Cool!

Heaven's Coins started it all for me. But I started to lose interest during the time when Ice World, Forbidden Love, Overtime, GTO , LV, and all the other good stuff came on. There's this explosion of interest in J-drama which turned me off, plus I didnt like Ice World, Forbidden Love, Heaven's Coins 2 and a couple of dramas that I picked to watch... So i tuned out for a few years. Then that interest was rekindled once again with 'Friends' starring Fukada Kyoko and Won Bin. Actually it was the 'making of' that made me sat up and took notice. The detailing, determination, drive, passion and dedicatedness of the production team moved me. So I scoured J-dramas once with a more open mind. Cos I can't expect every J-drama to be good.

I can't remember the very first.... Loved Hojo Tokimune.
Loved Shotgun Wedding.... Loved Artificial Beauty.. ..Now Loving Musashi...
Loved all the Kintaro series.
Especially impressed with anything that Kazuki Kitamura does. Just finished one with him called Someone is watching. A horror drama and I would like to see it again.
Kazuki was also in one recently about the' women in the palace.' Can't think of the exact title. Most beautiful scenery and costumes I have ever seen.
Now watching Kimutaku in Long Vacation and Good Luck. also have the album of SMAP 'MIJ' Applaud

Pity I can't speak Japanese. It doesn't matter.. as the actors are too good and I get the meanings .

GTO

I watched the anime first and loved it...then heard about the Live Action. I saw some screens on the net and gave it no thought.

I totaly regret not watching this sooner!

With the right mix of comedy and drama...this was definately worth my while. Even led me to finally know what I want to do in life Wink
