haven't heard of this before...what is it? :headscratch:

It's about the people who jumped from the world trade center buildings before the collapsed. There was a picture printed the day after of a falling man, and it was met with so much controversy that it disappeared from the media all together.

It's about the whole question of powerful images, and what they mean. People were offended that falling people were being shown because it showed the weakness of man... and yet others were outraged that falling pepole were being airbrushed out of the WTC pics that were being shown because it was like erasing man.

One of my colleagues recorded it off of TV so I could show it to my photography kids tomorrow... but I didn't realize until now that tomorrow is 9/11. I'm debating on whether or not it would be appropriate to show it after all.

thanks for the explanation.
Tomorrow is a day to remember and honor all of those who lost their lives...a sad time indeed. And those were powerful images that will never be forgotten.

Even if one is bad? :beaten:

Same idea for dramas. However, I suppose I could rebel against myself... :angeldevil:

You gotta start somewhere.

Hmmm, that's a tough one. How old are these kids? Some of the parents might object to showing something so graphic. (Meanwhile the kid is downloading porno and they're totally unaware :shakehead: )[/list:u]

Yeah, I placed it in in the freezer until I was able to find a way to revive the darn thing. :hehe: Actually, after hearing a lot of useless stuff from the tech person who was supposed to check the HD, I ended up trying to recover it myself. :beaten:

That's the same response that I said when my friend suggested that to me. :hehe: But seriously, that trick works. ;) Place the dead hd in the freezer for an hour, put it back in the cpu and your computer will be able to detect and access it. But it won't last too long, so you should transfer the files in another hd or burn them to dvd quickly.

Just make sure you take it out from the freezer for an hour, or your hd might end up like this

yeah, if freezing it doesn't work, pop it in the oven for 5 minutes.

I saw this on a gas station yesterday and I just scoffed

"Remember 9/11. The day where 30000 Americans died"

I wanted to scoff at the same time be sad. I wanted to scoff because, the idiot who posted this thinks that 9/11 was a great loss. But has he ever thought of the millions Americans killed over time during the past half a century? I mean, don't get me wrong, I empathize a lot with the families of those who died in 9/11. But for somebody to put a number into it and glorify it in that way just irks me.

I ended up showing it to my kids today. They were glued to the screen, and I could see them shuddering at the images... and what was being said. They seemd Okay with it, and said they'd like to finish the video tomorrow. I'm a little relieved, and yet I feel sorta guilty having exposed them to such a thing all over again, ya know?

Or has he thought of the millions of people who were massacred in Africa within a 48 hour window?
