This file is about 2.9MB. In this scene, I think Koume catches her roommate (name unknown) looking through her stuff. She wakes the roommate, argues with her, then *WHAM* Koume gets whacked in the face.
Thanks!!! Man, I can't believe Fuji TV cut out so much stuff!!!

Well, so far episode 3 is rolling along. I have at least one scene that needs translation. More may be needed later on... I have two versions of UTSR, and both of them had this scene cut out.
If anyone would like to help, the scene can be downloaded here:
It's really small, about 3.9MB, MPEG-1 format, 23 seconds. There are two people in this: Yuki (the girl) and Masaya. Koyuki left just before this segment (basically, she called Masaya an a**hole, then ran off). Knowing her, I'd imagine Yuki is saying something stupid to Masaya.
Appreciate the help!!!!

first line??(cant figure out what one word
is-too late right now to think)
can i? (sit down w/him)
is that your current girlfriend?
no, my younger sister
there's no resemblence at all.
second clip, i couldnt figure out one line, the high pitched screaming contributed to that..lol _________________

Then pemu's comments is all you need.

I have a copy of UTSR with Chinese subtitles. I took snapshots of the text. If someone who can read Chinese translate to English, I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it!!!! Thanks!

wow, im surprised by the differences in the second segment translations also...
i believe kouseiya315's translations are more accurate to the japanese dialog though.
I'm hoping I got it. My Japanese isn't great to begin with but I feel like it's been going down the crapper from lack of use That's what it sounded like to me from the first listen. It fit the situation so I assumed I was right However no matter how many times I listen to the clip, I cannot get the first couple words of what she's screaming!
WTF, I keep spelling things wrong from typing fast and having to edit my post! AHHH!!!11

Sorry, I didn't know nobody got the first line Uchida Yuki said, so I hadn't downloaded the clip until now. This is what I got out of it:
Nan da ka...mometeimasu ne.
General translation: What's that about? You both sure disagree/are disagreeing.
EDIT: You can use "arguing" instead of disagreeing, too. I forgot to mention that.
It was a little hard for me to hear....if that's right, she really linked those two phrases closely together. That's my best guess and what I heard on the first listen. Same as with the second clip, I gave you what was from my first listen. But I'm more confident of my romaji and trans of the second clip.
Good news... Episode 3 has completed its alpha phase. I've been burning it to DVD+RW and watching it for any video flaws and other errors. Also, as of ep3, I'm starting a beta test program where I rip a low-quality version, then distribute it to certain individuals who have helped me through this project up to now. I'm hoping to get the test file out tonight, but everytime I run through the episode I'm finding one or more errors. I'm hoping to have episode 3 out for distribution by the end of this week (1/24/2004) via what I call the groink BT tracker. For those of you who have downloaded Hatchobori Seven 4 ep1 via d-addicts, you have experienced the groink BT tracker.
One thing about episode 3... Be prepared to cry or at least get teary-eyed! I've seen this episode about a dozen times, and I still get very emotional over it.
I already have episode 4 in raw DV format, so hopefully I'll get started on it next week, and therefore have it out by early February.
My subbing process has also changed for the better. Since I bought my new LITEON LVD-2002 DVD player, I'm now able to view the D-grade version of UTSR, thereby allowing me to view my video editor and the TV at the same time. Before, I was typing the entire script to a Word document, printing it out, then typing from the document into my video editor.
For you beta testers, I've already made contact with each of you, so I'll be PM'ing you shortly for downloading instructions.

hey groink, i downloaded the file. and all the subs seem to be fine, no mistakes that i saw so far.
the only concern i have is, that some words and lines were not translated by NGN where you are getting your subs from. they are somewhat minor.. overall everything was fine though.

the quality is good as well.
I was discussing this with another beta tester... It seems that NGN was more concerned about portraying the overall context of the situations, rather than trying to translate even the littlest of details. For example, in the "conch shell" argument scene between Takuya and Kazuya, I'd say about 10-percent of the dialog is totally missed in the translation. However, when the beta tester broke the conversation down, those missed words didn't add anymore to the overall context of the situation, therefore I'll still leave them out. It may irritate the Japanese speakers, but then NGN probably didn't figure that Japanese speaking people would even watch subtitled stuff like this. I could actually release a raw non-subbed version of the UTSR episodes for Japanese speaking people, but I doubt I would ever do that.
Another example, one of the things I learned is that I should actually be writing "An-chan" where instead NGN used the actual person's name like "Takuya" or "Masaya". They even went as far as deleting about 2 minutes of footage from the original laser disc version when they aired it. If it weren't for your guys' contributions to the translating, you wouldn't have known about Koume's situation at the Watanabe's, or Masaya's leadership among his med school peers. So some things are important, while other things can be left out. Keeping the overall context intact is the most important thing IMHO.
There are actually a few mis-spellings found in ep03 I'll need to correct later today. And, as one person found, I mistakenly wrote "Fumika" instead of "Fumiya" LOL... I was watching some Suzuki Fumika stuff just before writing that, so you know where my mind was at.
I'm waiting for one more beta tester's report... I'll make some changes from the input you three gave me, then I'll start cutting this episode loose.

hey groink i've downloaded the file and just like amrayu said all the subs seem to be fine, and just the certain missed subbed conversation which is was left out by NGN.. and the "an-chan" or "ani-chan" translation, i know it would be easiler to translate that in chinese rather then in english and i think it is better to keep the actual person's name _________________

Hi there,
I was reading about you project Groink, and I really want to watch it! Hearing so many good things about UTSR, but I tried the bittorrent link at d-addicts and it keeps saying "tracker error: cannot connect to to database. Be patient and let your client try again." Has anyone had this same problem? Thanks a lot! _________________

The original d-addicts tracker has some issues. If you keep trying, it'll eventually click. I'll start up the seeding of eps 1 and 2 from my end right now...

Recently there's been a couple of torrents that are really popular and have attracted thousands of downloaders so that you have a couple of thousand users all trying to announce to the tracker and the poor database can't handle that many connections at once.
I have just created more resources and added them to the tracker so try again and let me know if you still get that error.
