Well, to me Tegoshi definitely has the best voice in NEWS. But overall in JE, Tegoshi is still far behind. I'm not just talking about the voices that sound good on CD, but also amazing when singing LIVE, and in this generation, my top 3 would have to be KK's Tsuyoshi Dohmoto, K8's Subaru and Arashi's Ohno. Jin is good, but singing live, he's still not good enough.

NEWS' members still have a lot to learn when performing live IMO. It just hurts when most of the times, their voices are just not up to par or pitchy or can't hit the high notes. That's why I prefer listening to them on CDs rather watching them perform live. To this day, Ryo & Uchi are the best live performers in NEWS, probably because they also belong to K8 who are known to be very very good live performers. Experience do count, you know...

Tegoshi definitely has the best voice in NEWS and he is one of the top in JE, considering his age and his experience (or lack of ). I love Ohno and Subaru's voices, and they are really good both recorded and live, and I actually think Nino's voice is great too, although a bit different.

NEWS aren't the best of live performers amongst JE artistes, I agree. They tend to sometimes go a bit off, but I love them for that. Call me weird, but I'm happy when I hear their voices go a bit off, because it shows that they really are performing live, like what concerts are supposed to be. Of course, it would be better if they could perform live and NOT go off, but, time and experience will fix that. At the moment, they can't control their voices very well. and Tegoshi especially, doesn't seem to know his limits. But when they do hit the right notes, by god, it's beautiful.

Well, i haven't seen a lot... Now i'm really going to try and get the concerts and Ya-ya-yah. Which takes ages to download. hahaha... does Ya-ya-yah have subs? Or do you happen to know an upload that has subs?

Talk about the other groups, i always find the KAT-TUN guy frieky... The one in Gokusen2 and NwP... hahaha (this is very subjective, be as angry with me as you want)... Looks a lot like Koyama... frieky... in a good way though ^^

Hmmm... just finished watching MBMH and One Piece movie 7 (watched it coz i like 1piece and NewS, but i heard the sayaendo mp3 first)

Do you guys remeber the link that ladylola gave for us who are searching for PVs, well i'll tell you something, whoever povided the upload took a screenshot of the Sayaendo PV adn that screenshot was one hell of a spoiler! Well i actually think the PV itself was a spoiler. For those who intends to watch the 1piece movie, don't watch the Sayaendo PV first, just listen to the mp3, then after you watched the movie, enjoy the PV as much as you like ^^... But maybe other people won't consider it as a spoiler, i just don't like knowing things before i reach the part where i'm supossed to know it...

Why did i make such a big fuss? Coz i thought the movie was wasn't good and having it spoiled just leaves you nothing, right? It was lack of action, and i am so annoyed by Robin n Nami's breast that seems to become bigger and bigger (the art in the manga is much better and more "proportional")... If it wasn't because of NEWS's Sayaendo and the ending of the movie (the ending was pretty unpredictable and fun) i would have been so regretful watching this movie

xD Well...I think Tego's got the best voice in NewS, never said anything about in all of J.E. My tops in JE are Koichi (Kinki Kids), Tego (NewS, A-dur~!) and Tsubasa (Tackey & Tsubasa) Iono I like their voices best. xD

I lOVE Tego's voice because...he sounds like he does on the CD when he sings live, there isn't much difference most of the time. Where as Pi's voice gets by far more nasal in my opinion, and Kussa's kinda cracks like mine. Tego can hold his notes when he sings Live, and I like that about him. His voice pretty much sounds the same on the CD as it does live, and for me that's awesome.

I think everyone knows that JE isn't about idols who can sing...it's about idols who can grab girls attention and make the old man some money. In an American article I read (so this is an outside viewpoint), they talked about SMAP, how no one in the group could really sing, but it was all about sex appeal (mainly pointing at Kimura in the article)

If an idol can sing too, well then that's just a added bonus
Also, even if you ARE in a boyband, what makes JE stand out for me is how they train all the boys to do so much more then just sing, they have lessons in dancing (backflips, cause you ain't Johnny's if you can't do a backflip ), acting in dramas and stageplays, even how be a good MC. They just need experience to tone all these skills they've learned.

OT: Eh, I think Jin is one of the best at singing live, geez his vocal range is like and he KNOWS how to control it.

ahaha.. reminds me of how one of the reasons Yamapi wanted to be a Johnny was because he wanted to learn how to do backflips

I agree to say that tego was the best voice.. and its not too hard to reconize his voice since we can hear his breath each time he end his line
but any one listen to massu? I don't know but I think he have a great voice too in NewS. at first its hard to recognize their voice.
for me NewS was not the best group of live performance - yes. but I think they will do better on january right! if not we still happy since we have our NewS back!!

koyama = kame? nope don't think so. koyama is a whole lot different. maybe he reminds you of kame, in a way, because of the longish hair, and maybe a longish face. but i always thot that kame was more girly than anyone else, except maybe Jin and Uchi.

By the way, sometimes UCHI looks rather girly, but sometimes, when he's singing onstage, looks quite ....well, dunno .... a little less girly?

Oh yeah, if Mr. Monta does come to KL, he'd find YOUTUBE going much faster

Hey everyone, have you guys watched any of the recent CMs/ picture spreads that Yamapi has been in recently? So.....first I'd like to qualify that I was like a pretty BIG fangirl of Yamapi. For like almost a year. Ever since Nobuta and thru Kurosagi and even in Fever to Future. But recently, I just noticed some of his photo shoots are getting uglier and uglier. And it's not so much that my tastes has changed (though I did realize his eyes are a little too big for his face). Cuz I still find Akira adorable. But omg, the recent commercial of him......seriously gave me a fright. In fact, my friend screamed everytime she saw him in it. And all his ads for his new drama was pretty hideous too. Though that may be due to his new hair that's NOT covering his forehead/face. He looks almost as bad as the super old Johnny's who you ocassionally see at like the Johnny countdown or something. Anyways, my point is......how did he age so fast? And get so ugly so fast? Here's some proof:

Another recent finding is that well.....he kind of can't sing. I mean I kinda knew he wasn't the BEST singer in NEWS but he got all the solos especially in the earlier NEWS releases since he was the most popular. And I liked Seishun and Daite a lot too. I also like Yubiwa, Love Song, Himawari etc. HOWEVER, I dunno if it's cuz I started listening to artists that can sing or whatever but SUDDENLY, I can't stand his singing voice anymore. In all the Shounen Clubs, when they sing in a group......his voice ALWAYS stands out, even above everyone else in NEWS. It's actually quite a funny phenomenon since Kame's voice overpowers everyone else's too. But pretty much when Pi sings in a group of 8 all I can hear is still his voice. And he kinda sing out of tune live. And the quality of his voice is even worse. Although in the recordings, tho the voice engineers try, they can't really change the entire quality of his voice. For example, the beginning of the song Himawari: the background music is all fine and dandy and suddenly AAAAAAOOOOOO..

Anyways.....hope this post doesn't offend ppl. And I don't really mean to bash Pi or anything cuz he works so hard at what he does. Its just that this has been kind of bothering me for a while and I wonder if anyone else has thought the same things?

mmmm personally i am not a fan of pi's voice.. i liked it in seishun and daite, but then i sometimes cant really stand it because it does stand out above the other members' voices... it HAS gotten better thru the years i must say!! but i was so upset cuz i was really obsessed w/"hakka candy" for awhile, and i found this version sung by kattun and 4tops, but then yamapi got all the solo parts, and i just wanted to hear more jin!! gosh and this was months ago, before i was even a huge fan of jin's. ahhhhh. it does stand out alot tho, AND he gets like sooo many solos because he was the most famous of news. except when its pi vs kame, then it depends ^_^ on whos voice stands out hahahahahahahaha. and OMG in himawari... i never noticed the beginning before but then one day when it just started playing i was like WHOA cuz i hadnt heard the song in awhile and wow yeah. i dont get it. anyway yea i was a HUGE pi fangirl too... and i still love his akira days dearly... i just cant watch his new drama news reports cuz i kinda cant stand his hair either. or that new CM... first of all WHAT was with all those girls undressing?! it was really disturbing, i thought i dled the wrong thing @ first but then i heard pi's voice in the background. and that lighting and hair just isnt the best look for him O_O

teshi singing in MS alone was love. i love his voice!!!!

I appreciate your point of view. many fans are used to his 'old look'.

i guess he's just moving on, trying to create a new image of himself ; so he experiments. Some people may like him this way : he looks older, maybe a bit more mature.

dunno. that's just my point of view, and i guess because i believe that I am older than most of the people on this thread, i like his new look compared to the time that he was skinnier and paler. I am so sorry if i offend anyone.

someone said he looks 'buffier' : i guess that's better too.

hmmmmm......I mean I do prefer the buffer Pi......cuz I don't like the whole anorexic look on ANYONE. But it could be the sun too. That he's getting darker so he looks different. Didn't he write that he wanted to be bald or something? On one hand I'm kind of curious how that would look. On the other hand.... But anyways change may be good or bad. I'm glad he's experimenting tho and finding what he likes best. Even if it may or may not appeal to me at the moment

sometimes i pity these guys. i mean a lot of people like them because of how they look, their smiles, etc. I was just thinking the other day(s),

a) are they happy? seriously. I suppose they are, coz they seem to be putting up happy faces onstage, etc.

but you know, it must be tough for them to be what the public wants them to be all the time.

b ) i was wondering, do they have girlfriends? i know Ryo is supposedly going out with someone.

c) whatever it is, i like them as a team, a group, and I do like that Yamapi is pretty cool to share the limelight with the rest although lots of people love him more than others, or so i've been told.

d) interestingly, though, i read that Koyama is the one that's looking out for the younger ones, like an older brother. Funny, i always thought that Yamapi would be the natural 'caretaker' in this sense.

Yup, shows that you certainly can't judge anyone from outside only. I'm just glad that Yamapi's still using his talents for the benefits of all.

sorry haven't been joining in for some time because this thread is growing so fast that i'm becoming a little confused

@cutesawada i agree with lizakajang that he is probably experimenting new images to see which he likes best/audiences like best. Although i really do love his pretty, cute boy image in the past much much more, i guess he is trying out a more mature [s]and buffier[/s] one as he grows older. i mean one can't remain cute forever right? So yeah.. he's going for the more "manly", matured image now.

sidenote, but is ryo looking younger and younger?! with his new hairstyle especially

as for yamapi's voice, can easily tell that he's the type of trained singer so it's quite an effort for him to sing actually. (Hence he lip-syncs quite often) Especially with all the dance they have to do in concerts too. So yeah.. i guess maybe that's why he goes out of tune quite often.

If you're looking for voice quality, i think it will be best to get that from pre-recorded stuff instead of live Hey! You really need good stamina to dance and sing at the same time. Phew. And it isn't just yamapi, all of them more or less get out of tune And yes i agree with hantuwriter, tegoshi's voice sounds the most beautiful live but it tends to get screechy in his unsuccessful attempts to reach high notes. Still, he's quite daring when it comes to high notes in concerts

@lizakajang Pretty good questions you were thinking Yeah.. all of them put up happy faces at least on stage (except ryo maybe). And from what i noticed, they do stuff like hugging/intimate actions to appeal to fangirls. Sometimes i also think that they are quite poor thing, to do some stuff which may be against their own will just for fanservice And talking about fans ARGHH some fans are so unappreciative I heard from another forum that a crazy fan actually scratched ryo's face so badly during a recent k8 concert that he had to go offstage halfway

yep, i have read in interviews that kei is the "big-brother" figure and in fact yamapi said in an interview that he's more of the "bystander".
