I'm new here (so be gentle with me!)
I am 5 episodes into GTO, and I am finding it to be superb, gripping viewing.
But something is really bothering me: who is on the huge poster in Ms. Fuyutsuki's house?
I know I recognize the guy, but I just cannot think of his name.
Can anyone help a poor little newbie?
*grasps for sympathy!*

Krim, having looked at Takenouchi Yutaka's profile here, I can see that you are right. I must admit to not being familiar with the name, but I must've seen a picture before.
Thank you so much for your help. I can rest now.

Trust me, you'll find the manga to be hilarious
I have all 25 vol. of GTO and now collecting GTO the early years.
No regret spending money on these manga
The anime is good, but I love the drama more then the anime.
The anime is fairly close to the manga, but the ending was...... _________________

I notice Nanako keeps calling Onizuka "Onichi". What is "Onichi"? Some kind of familiar contraction of the name Onizuka?
Thanks to anyone who can help! |

I always thought Nanako was combining the last name Onizuka with the first name EikiChi _________________

K.T. Tran - thank you so much for this - it sounds right! I can't believe this hadn't occurred to me already! D'oh.

sesil - Why do the subtitles make it funnier?
I find the subtitles can be hard to catch, as they can move so quickly. Also, the ones I have have an American bias, (like calling "Autumn" the "Fall"), but I don't really mind that.

Apparently that's a bit of an in-joke: Takenouchi Yutaka is apparently considered an acting/singing (or whatever) contemporary/rival of Sorimachi-san. You know that Nanako Matsushima and Sorimachi are married IRL, right?

I did know that Nanako Matsushima and Sorimachi were married in real life.
I didn't know about the rivalry between Takenouchi and Sorimachi, though.
It appears to me that Sorimachi is the most successful of the two men - would this be right?
