hmmm....her new look isn't so bad. Erike is still Erika nee?
btw, anybody have watched "The Mamiya Brothers"? just bought it yesterday but haven't got a chance to watch it. Erika played there but not as the main role (since the it's titled "brothers" ) _________________
Tegami seems to do pretty well in its first week of screening and ranked 4th in Japan box office . There is already some leakage of the movie around the net ..hope this won't have too much impact on the movie's performace in box office.
Erika also did well in the 50th Drama Academy Award (The Television magazine), coming in second for best supporting actress for Taiyo no uta. The result is very close as Erika lead in the popularity and judge panel votes before dropped to second after the addition of reporter's vote into the final result . Natsukawa Yui won the best supporting role for her role in Kekkon Dekinai Otoko.

Interesting headline on Yahoo Japan news today: "Sawajiri fails in attempt to be ugly". It's referring of course to Sawajiri Erika, the 20-year-old French-Japanese actress who has been grossly overexposed on both the big and small screens this year, and her turn in Shono Jiro's "The Letter" (Tegami) which opens nationwide this weekend.
I first wrote about this one back in April when the project was announced. The headline originates from an interview with director Shono where he talks about the challenge he faced matching the actress to the role. "If her character was as it is in the book, she'd be more dowdy and unattractive. But then she moves to the city and grows more sophisticated, becoming beautiful through her enduring love for the protagonist. But despite that, Sawajiri is pretty right from the beginning, no matter what you do. We tried a lot of things like reducing her makeup, making her wear glasses and tying her hair, but that only made her even cuter... it was an utter failure (laughs)."
"Even so, putting aside her appearance, her presence and performance that she constructed out of an awareness of the period was wonderful. Her ability to do so made me sense Sawajiri's power as an actress."
Shono's comments remind me of Garry Marshall's 1991 film "Frankie and Johnny", in which Michelle Pfeiffer was glaringly miscast as a homely waitress, a role originally played on stage by the not as aesthetically pleasing Kathy Bates. With fellow hot young properties Yamada Takayuki and Tamayama Tetsuji sharing top billing and its typically hanky-wetting subject matter, "Tegami" might have seemed like guaranteed box office coin a year or so ago, but this year has seen increasingly diminishing returns for such romantic and/or tear-jerking fare featuring young starlets. This is one of distributor Gaga's first stab at the genre (if you could call it that), but will the surplus of similar films and the ubiquity of its lead actors work against it?

We will welcome you with open Arms
Arigatou !!
I have been busy these days !!
Oh ! Yeah ! I have something to tell you !!
... Though it apologized to make you all envied it, ..... I saw her movie OTOSHIMONO last Saturday !!
Phew... it was the final day !! I was almost miss it !!
I had to go to far a purposely big town because the movie was not too popular
and not screen it around where I live... that's why I couldn't watch it right away.
I was surprised that there were a lot of familly viewers for that kind of horror movie.
But it must be because of consecutive 3 days holidays in Japan at last weekend.
Now ! ... my impression of the movie is ... OK !!
Well ... to be frank with you, the movie itself is not so good...
We had many "why ??" in there. .. but at this kind of movie, I think that you should not deeply pursue it, isn't it !?
However the biggest problem is NOT scary at all !!
I think that the zombies are unnecessary... it made me funny !!
Kids loved it, though !!
Well ... I shouldn't say too much anymore ! because you guys gonna see it future, right ?
If you are going to see Erika only as like me, it is fine !! She is very cute !!
That movie film actually had shot early last year just before the "1 Liter of Tears",
that means you can see the Aya Erika in there !!
Thing regrettable is ....that her wonderful smile cannot be so seen...Of course and it is a Horror movie !!
Sorry for off topic again, .. for your info,
I saw the movie at the Movie Complex which has 4 movie theaters in one building,
and I found very big crowd in the waiting line for DEATH NOTE 2 !!
It was just 2nd days, started Friday ! And it is 82 pnt. of Viewers Review and
No.1 in Ranking currently !! Erika's TEGAMI is 80 pnt. and No.4 in Ranking.

The movie was shot before one litre of tears?? Then how come it's still in the cinemas? Haha. Weird. And since you said it's not that scary, I so wanna watch it now..
Btw will there be a DeathNote 3 and 4 like the manga? Out of topic but just curious.
