from my poor background in violin playing I recognized that Mine and Chiaki actually played (not faked) the violin (although when Mine performed at the exam, during some hard parts his playing wasn't shown). And it also seems that Chiaki and Nodame do play. What about the conductor stuff? Does anyone know? (I'm just curious)
I know that the actor who plays Chiaki is famous, but I don't know much about him...He's really talented to be able to play both the violin and the piano!

Welcome to JDorama. In another forum a couple of experienced persons had already pointed out that Eita (Mine) was faking it - in some scenes the bow wasn't touching the strings, and the finger movements of his left hand did not correspond to the actual music. Tamaki (Chiaki) did a much better job when he played the violin in Nodame's room in episode 2.

Tamaki underwent intense training before shooting this drama. He did not seem to play either the piano and violin prior to this drama, and certainly knew nothing about conducting.

On the other hand Ms. Ueno (Nodame) played the piano from kindergarten to grade 6, and she had 6-month's practice before the shooting.

yes, Mine's faking was really noticeable - misa uehara i think also overdid it a bit - no soprano sings with the ease she seems to convey.

but regardless, this dorama is so ridiculously funny and amusing to watch - can't wait for subs for ep 3 to come out!

Yeah, I noticed it too, but I don't really care whether each cast plays it for real or not because the drama is so entertaining to watch.

I've been watching episode 4 over and over the past week. Now I'm finally able to understand it - the chinese subs are available. Dancing

Without giving things away let me just say that I consider this episode a corner stone of the plot - the relationships between Chiaki, Nodame, and the S-Oke are finally coming together. Applaud

I've just heard of this show recently, actually. I've read a few volumes of the manga series before, but got sidetracked with Honey and Clover. I'm so glad Nodame is coming out as a TV drama, though. I saw a few clips on YOUTUBE and couldn't help but laugh at some of the off the wall humor.

I've seen Tamaki in Itoshii no Kimi e, but there wasn't much of him to be seen to gauge his acting skills. From the little I've seen of Nodame, I think he needs to work a bit on facial expressions, but other wise, he's doing some solid acting (and he's handsome Big Grin )

If you watch the SP which is shown before first episode the actors explained abit about the instrument playing part.
Since Tamaki Hiroshi aka Chiaki is a singer as well (he can play guitar) maybe he can pick it up easily.
I think they put alot of effort to make the instrument playing part as real as possible, especially during the orcestra performances, well since most of the members are real music students. Unlike some taiwanese drama....... Nut those scenes totally ruined it.

Just watched Ep.5, even you dont understand japanese at all u still can have fun watching it, alot of music playing this episode Dancing

The SP, which was aired on the same night episode 1 was released, is available from D-Addicts. It is in the same package as episode 1.

Episode 5 is fun, just like the rest. However I think it also marks the beginning of some changes for Nodame.

In some forums there are people complaining that the drama is more about Chiaki than Nodame. I think from now on we'll see more of the 'struggles of Nodame'.

'Orchestra du Nodame Live' is available from D-Addicts:

http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_41725.htm

This is a recording of the Nodame Orchestra performing a number of pieces found in the manga (and therefore, the drama).

wow, he did a really good job faking it.I didnt notice if the hand corresponded to the notes (since in some scenes they changed the angles so fast), but his posture, hand movements and even vibration were very real. Bravo!
I agree: i liked the taiwanese hana yori dango version (of course only until i saw the japanese one), but everytime Rui picked up the violin to play I just cant stand it ><
This drama is awesome. The humor hits the right spot everytime, and the actors'expressions are always priceless. I've never laughed so hard watching a dorama like this!

Episode 6 starts a new train of events - about time too as the bulk of S-Oke members are 4th year students who will be graduating soon. Some observations, and spoilers, as follows:

I bet I'll find more points of interest after re-watching it with subs.

From the trailer of episode 7 there seems to be an interesting amorous development:
