I think the reason why some people find jdramas boring as compared to taiwanese dramas/korean dramas is because taiwanese/korean dramas in comparison puts in more lovey dovey stuff which captures the audience's attention and these dramas do have more action.
Jdramas kinda express emotions subtlely (which makes pple think jdramas are slow) and from what i watched so far, i realized that the plot for jdramas build up quite slowly (thus the first few episodes of jdramas may be a little slow, losing taiwanese/korean dramas lovers' attention). And sadly, it's only after this "introductory, slow" stage will one appreciate the beauty of jdramas
For me, i like the subtle expression of jdramas and the nice endings they have that always leave me with a great sense of satisfaction, something that other dramas have never provided. Also, i like it that jdramas usually have a distinct focus, say just baseball/ice hockey/air hostess as compared to singaporean dramas which are err.. always family style?! The best thing is jdramas are short and sweet
And i realized after getting hooked to jdramas, i can't stand other dramas any longer. I find kdramas cliche and too long, taiwanese dramas over exaggerating and the worst is actually local dramas, they are just so no plot and ridiculous.
YEAH! I'm like you montanaky!! I used to blog about like schlife and after i got into this addiction, all my entries became jpopish or jdramaish. Soon my tagboard's only left with tags from some of my fellow friends who are also jdrama/jpop lovers (those i have successfully influenced).
Popping by to say hi to everyone~
glad to see a Singaporean thread brought to life...
good job LCPTeck!
I think my first jdrama was overtime if I am not wrong...
but the drama that made me addicted over jdramas was H2.
The storyline was very nice.

WOW!! This thread is finally alive again.
There had been very few posts for the last few months.
Or should I say none.
From the Kimura Takuya and Matsu Takako era onwards.
I think I had been watching Jdrama for 10 years liao. Everybody in Singapore were watching Jdrama and listerning to Jpop then.
But sad to say, nowadays it had been Kpop taking over.
Mediacrop stop showing Jdrama and one of my fav. show, Music Station.
And I was wondering is there anybody left in Singapore follwing the Jpop scene.
But for the last few days, I discover from this thread that there is still a small group out there.
Keep up the good work everyone!!!
Jpop Forever!!!
