Then the light went on, and I realized they were saying "tsugi desu" I promptly went outside and kicked myself in the ass for being so stupid |

come to think of it, it does sound quite similar when you pronounce it.

 kind of like saying

 kawaii
 kowaii...
someone could get mistaken on what they hear...

A woman said that she attended a wedding which was done at a Christian church.
They called a foreign priest at that wedding and he spoke in Japanese with his English accent.
Btw the word god in Japanese is kami. That foreign priest pronounced the word kami "kame".
He said "kami no onmaeni"( before God ), but to Japanese his words sounded "kame no onnmaeni" ( before a turtle ).
She said that they had to refrain from laughing until the wedding ended.

 Hahaha.
That must have been really funny.

When I started studying japanese it was very difficult for me to understand anime or dorama. Now I get most of what they are saying but tv programmes like hey hey hey are so difficult to understand. They speak very fast.

Those manzai guys are difficult. Plus, the Japanese are so big on puns. 90% of which go right over my head.
