A friend of mine got a gift card from this restaurant, Sansui Tei ( http://www.sansuitei.com/ )... Wonder if it's any good.
how ironic...that's what i got as a gift for one of my really good friends, a gift card for a restaurant...NOT restaurant though, @ Providence in L.A....in fact i'm going to his pad tonight to give it to him and have dinner at his place...we are having Shabu Shabu and then watching the UFC championship on pay-per-view.

I am in the market for a rice cooker and I figured this was a good place to ask. I am leaning toward this model:
http://www.zojirushi.com/ourproducts/ricecookers/ns_lac.html
It is just the wife and I... I assume 3 cups is big enough for two (3 JPN cups).
I also like the Induction Heating ones but I cant see dropping almost $300 for a rice cooker.
Any other brands I should be looking at?
Another food Q:
Are there any of those ramen shops in the states like I see on all the Jdramas (either a stand or a real shop)? I cant seem to find one in my area. It seems like its hibachi/sushi or nothing.

there's actually a thread about rice cookers somewhere on this board...but yeah i have a zojirushi rice cooker....with the fuzzy logic chip....it makes perfect rice everytime....the rice bowl is easy to clean and it still performs wonderfully after a couple of years of rather steady use.

there's a handful of japanese ramen shops in los angeles that are actually branches of real japanese establishments....they are authentic in terms of the style and taste. the san francisco area has a few shops as well and new york has some excellent japanese ramen shops in manhanttan near or in the East Village. there might be other places but i can only speak to areas that i've lived in.
