I did know that Nanako Matsushima and Sorimachi were married in real life.

I didn't know about the rivalry between Takenouchi and Sorimachi, though.

It appears to me that Sorimachi is the most successful of the two men - would this be right?

That would be right, I guess. I think it was a friendly rivalry though Wink

Now every time I see the poster in Azusa's room, I can't help but chuckle.

And the poster is HUGE, too. Mr Green

Just finished GTO drama - waaaaaaaaaaa!

I found it FABULOUS viewing. Really really enjoyed it. So jealous we have nothing this good in the UK.

I've got the special and the movie.
I saw about 10 minutes of the special, but I'm going to have to watch it again because it was confusing!

Oh, I didn't get to the old lady.

All I saw was some woman in a news room having flashbacks (or something), and then Onizuka rolls in on his motorbike and saves a kid from squishing himself on a railway line.

And then I turned off and scratched my head, lol. rofl

Oh...shouldn't I watch the special first, then the movie?

My discs are not well labelled, so I just presumed I was watching the special.

Was there IMAI TSUBASA in episode 6 (one of those 3 friends at the truck race)? o_O! I think one of the boys looks exactly like imai tsubasa, but he wasn't in the setlist.

I am very new to JDrama's, as I have only watched the Densha Otoko series so far (finished it last week). I decided to watch GTO next, since it is ranked so high here.

I wasn't sure what to think at first. I'm not watching to see attractive people, cute situations or exaggerated humour. At first that's all I thought it was going to be. However, once I got to the scene with "the wall", I decided this was something I wanted to stick with. I really felt moved by that - as crazy and outlandish as it was.

If the rest of the shows surprise me with moments like that, I'll be happy to stick with it!

PS. Love this site, what a great resource for total newbies like me.

i watched a loooot of jdramas but i have to say GTO was defenetely the best jdrama i ever seen.. onizuka has a great personality because he can make you fall down from laughin but at the same time shed some tears from somethin moving he says.. they shud have made a second season =/ but too late for that i guess.. still very good drama never felt like dragged on.. deserves #1 ranking!!!!!!!!!

While Sorimachi is no doubt an excellent artiste and "GTO" an equally excellent drama, your statement is a bit over-presumptuous.

Japanese dramas back in the 70's built the foundation for the domination of TV time throughout Asia. The likes of "Oshin", "Sign wa Bui", and "Akai Meiro", to name a few, were the craze at the time.
