There was a time when i use to get backdoor seven attacks like 8 times a day!!! Didnt found out about it until I installed a firewall. Google Most of the attacks seems to originate from brazil and europe!!!

Norton Firewall tends to show up a bit, Norton always informs about subseven attacks, quite often a day. As for the other attacks, I have never seen it has informed.

I'm using norton right now. but there's a good free firewall, forgot the name though.
I'm using Zone Alarm all the way! Smile Easy to use and comprehend. Used ZA since the bough of this comp, hehe. Never faced any problems on ZA before, stable and efficient enough! Lighter than Norton firewall, eats less process.

I used to use Norton Firewall. But the thing keeps poping a msg about every attack. I couldn't find how to turn it off. I switched to free version of ZoneAlarm. It works fine. For homes and stuff I think that's enough.

For antivirus I used Norton Antivirus in the past. But I found out it slowed down my comp more than AVG antivirus, which I'm using now. It's also free. I mostly download videos, mp3s. And I only download programs from trusted sites. But I still have it running to check for macro viruses in word documents etc.

is zonealarm on par with kerio, another free home network firewall? Kerio stopped all my d/l's.

I have not used Kerio myself. But after some quick research, the general consensus seems to be that ZoneAlarm is better suited for the novice users whereas Kerio is better for the advanced users.

ZoneAlarm is a "set and forget" type of firewall. Kerio on the other hand requires more user intervention, but is more configurable and can be as secure if not more than ZA if configured correctly.

You can read more here http://forums.winmxcommunity.com/viewtopic.php?t=185 or here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,3411526~root=kerio~mode=flat?r=554

Mostly from VCDs.....

And a few odd things from mirc or BT sources. For all the non-VCD doramas that I have somewhere on CD, 90% of them were just from my friend, since he is pretty good at finding new J-doramas from various online sources.

I find a few odd ones on BT, once in awhile.

I used to get everything just off of Usenet, but that has become less of a reliable source for me, and now I get more stuff off the usual BT sites. But sometimes there are still some interesting things posted to Usenet, that I don't know where else to find.

For straight Japanese drama, when Hobankyou stepped in for Japanese video rental stores (stores now have to pay a fee to Hobankyou and also must face rules to not carry older videos), many of the stores that closed down had to get rid of their videos. I purchased the back/remaining inventory from several stores.

As for English subtitled drama, from many years of trading with other j-dorama fans or recording them from TV.

My dorama collection starts from back in 1986... so I guess you can say I have a lot.
