Hi all, I'm a lurker of this site and have been watching JDrama for a little under a year now. I've started to run thin on shows to grab my attention, so I thought I'd ask for some assistance on finding something new.

I'm a sucker for romantic comedies, and am looking for some more. I've watched such shows as Densha Otoko, Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, Kimi Wa Petto, and Hana Yori Dango (watching the second season as we speak, major nice stuff). I've currently started Last Christmas on recommendation to others, and I know I'm going to like it.

For my tastes in shows outside of romantic comedies, I've thoroughly enjoyed the series' of GTO, Gokusen 1 & 2 (1 was better), and My Boss My Hero. I basically want to find a show with a great storyline with a good development of characters and light comedy in between some tear jerker moments (nothing too depressing though, I'm hesitant to watch 1LoT because of that very reason as it sounds).

Thanks for any help you guys can provide, and I'll be sure to be more vocal then viewer around here in the future!

I'd recommend Brother Beat. Sums up exactly what your asking for!

Yay. Just joined the forums too, though ive known this site for a long time. Just finished Nobuta wo produce and 1 litre tear. Nobuta wo produce was great though it actually is quite crappy. Looking forward to watch shows with similar themes. Smile

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm downloading the first couple episodes now. Definitely loved Last Christmas (especially the soundtrack, I'm such a sucker for 80s pop, lol). I've yet to run into a series that's been outstandingly bad, and your recommendation definitely does look appealing.

Just started watching Nodame Cantabile (as well as finishing the downloading of the first episode of Brother Beat), and I can say without a shadow of a doubt this is most certainly a comedy drama. The first episode alone felt very anime-like with it's over-the-top facial expressions and attacks, but it certainly is quite entertaining thus far.

it's very anime-like in its comedic moments but there are important enough serious scenes in this dorama as well

from all the dorama i've seen, this one is the most anime-like to date. the actions are sometimes exaggerated nicely but i definitely well-adapted for tv. i certainly enjoyed watching this dorama (to finish it practically all in a day's work Bleah) as the dorama progresses, i found myself getting drawn into the series as i developed an attachment to the characters. as a music-lover, their choices for the difference pieces throughout the series were well-picked and suited both series and character development. A most entertaining series, bravo!!

Attack No.1 but i recommend you watch Ace first because I think Attack is better.
Also there's My Little Chef. She's the main character but she's really cute in that one. Uhhh.......don't watch KouKou Kyoushi 2003 if you don't like the teacher/student romance and its also a bit dark and some ideas are a bit disturbing....sorta. DON'T watch Shimokita Sundays. Its bad to see her go from good drama to bad drama..... Shake Head Shake Head Shake Head

Edit: also watch Kinpachi Sensei 6. The torrents are in the Aya thread somehwere. Just gotta look for them.

Zannen desu yo. She gain popularity because of Attention Please. I'm pretty sure of that. Her new and old fans must've been very disappointed with how Shimokita Sundays went.

Along with Attention Please, I think her other good performances are from Kinpachi Sensei 6 and KKK 2003. My personal opinion here because i think she did good and that the dramas were good too.

Historical drama ne~? how about yoshitsune?? if you need information on whose playing there just search yoshitsune down w00t!
I really like historical story that contains war and shows great leadership character (villain or not) such as yoshitsune, shinsengumi, nobunaga oda etc(these are characters not drama titles), but if i may to say the greatest historical story ever is the romance of three kingdom.. w00t! w00t!
