Upcoming Drama Special

On Feb. 11, TV Tokyo will broadcast the first of a two-part drama on the early life of former Diet member Yoshiko Yamaguchi, who was also known as the Chinese singer Li Xianglan or, in Japanese, "Ri Koran," which is the title of the drama (Feb. 11 and 12, 8:54 p.m.).

Yamaguchi (Aya Ueto) was born in Manchuria to Japanese parents, but as a girl she was adopted by a Chinese friend of her father's. She was trained as a popular singer and become a star of stage and screen in both China and Japan, though her Chinese fans didn't know she was Japanese. Following the war, she was arrested and prosecuted by the Chinese Nationalists for treason, but when they discovered that she was a Japanese national, they deported her. Later, she even went to Hollywood, where she was known as Shirley Yamaguchi.

I think it's about having a second shot with the one you really love. I believe there's an element of time travel too. Confused

Why do I feel like the element of time travel & giving love a second chance sounds suspiciously like Tsuyoshi Dohmoto's I'LL BE BACK? Crazy That one is a genius and produced by TBS. This better be better or people will complain (or maybe it is just me).

It sounds like Butterfly (the Hollywood movie) to me....

So Yamapi and Masami got paired up again huh?? I liked them in Dragonzakura, let's see if they can still maintain the -not bad- chemistry.

I like Yamapi in Nobuta and I like Masami in Dragonzakura. But in some other dramas, I dislike the way they acted. Let's see if they can reprise their -good acting- moments.

I like Masami-chan, but I don't particularly Yamapi's acting except in Nobuta where he's...different. He's still to stiff and controlled in others.

Yeah sometimes he comes off as a bit unnatural but he's okay in Byakkutai.

Can't wait to check out the upcoming dramas including Matsumoto Jun's new one. I never liked him since Kimi wa Petto but Hana Yori Dango has changed my mind about him somewhat.

Any upcoming dramas by Ryoko Hirosue?

Right now, there is so much bullying and suicide in Japan children and teens. The Prime Minister Abe Shinzo has already discussed about changing the Japanese education by having the teachers to be able to discipline more on the children/students.

A cricket or softball bat would do the trick.
